Great idea, Chris! That was lots of fun, as usual!

And we have HDCC tomorrow too.

But right now, we should all go ride the MVT. Without delay!

4MR between Walter Reed and Mt. Vernon Ave

I rode 4MR on 32 slicks around 1 pm today.

Fine and clear between Walter Reed and Shirlington Rd, with wet spots.

The 395 underpass had patches of slush with an especially thick one at the west end. I walked that one, though some had ridden.

No further problem areas until the Mt. Vernon Ave underpass, which is still an icy mess. This is a photo looking up the rise from that underpass.

I’m going to take a pass on this too and take advantage of the just announced option to telework.

I’m up for that, although I might be walking there with Yaktrax on. Would around 7:30 work? (If we have delayed arrival this could be changed to a later time.)

I’ll be walking that way anyway, so no worries if it’s too icy and you change your mind.

DBB and others – tire info is really helpful with condition reports.

Wow. I’ve seen them there a lot but never behaving quite this boldly. That had to be just a little disconcerting. Great video though. He or she didn’t seem fazed at all by the blinky.

Could you all please move this discussion out of the road and trail conditions thread? Thanks.

The Eads St. bike lanes north of 23rd Street were a slushy mess yesterday and may be unrideable today. Not sure about the other Crystal City bike lanes. FMR was great yesterday but with lots of wet areas that have probably refrozen. Arghhh.

Four Mile Run Trail along Glebe Rd.

There are now a couple of patches of hard ice that extend for about 8-10 feet almost all the way across the trail on the part of FMR that runs alongside Glebe Rd. (the section I call Crepe Myrtle Lane). While it’s now possible to very carefully weave through them, new snow will make them impossible to see shortly. Studs and or great caution advised.
