Participant3-4 beers at one sitting is too much for this lightweight. Gotta get my RAGBRAI training in!

ParticipantYo! I’m going on this ride with my teammate!! Great company, riding, beer, close into DC, and the route is already figured out! Oh, and the weather is looking good. Can’t get any easier! Come out and play! (love me some exclamation points!!)

I think work is under control so I get to go on a long ride this weekend. My idea this week is to stop at Elder Pine Brewing after circling Triadelphia Reservoir. The route is about 62 miles from the French School. As usual, the pace will be brisk but sociable; I averaged about 14 MPH last time I did this route, with fast sections on the flats and not fast at all up the hills. Elder Pine has great beer, but no real food, so bring a sandwich or other snack with you or buy something at Passion Bakery, our first stop, to bring with you. Here is the plan:
9:40: Leave Takoma Metro
10:00: Leave French School (Beach Dr. & Woodbine)
Mile 19: Stop at Passion Bakery for coffee & pastries. If you did not bring lunch, buy a sandwich for lunch at Elder Pine.
Mile 39: Stop at Elder Pine for beer and the lunch you brought with you. Here is the route, from the French School: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/32021483. Add about 9 miles if you are starting from Takoma.
I am on low alert for a work issue, so check here for any last minute changes. If you want to meet us somewhere en route, let me know and I will guestimate a meet-up time.
Hope to see you on Sunday!

My Plan B proposal is that we meet at Coffee Club at about 8. Andrea and the West-of-of the Park group can take the CCT. I can lead the East-of-the-Park group down Kansas/11th, go by McPherson, and meet you at Swings.
Meet up at the Takoma Metro at 7:15? Earlier is fine with me, but I know a couple of you are north of Takoma and I don’t want to presume you leave earlier.

I have to be near Waterfront SW by 7:30 to get ready and at work on time. Don’t worry about me for the team commute, but I hope you enjoy it!

Hmmm, if I’m headed in I have to be at McPherson by 8:30. 7:45 might be pushing it from Rock Creek. Haven’t done that route before.
Saturday morning?

Saturday morning looks rainy, so I’ll probably ride once it clears up in the afternoon.

Plan B (Eric’s idea)
Capital Crescent Trail (West of the park riders) meet up at 7:30 am Friday at the tunnel on the CCT and we head into DC and finish at Swings. Anyone interested??Andrea

I am game for a Team Commute. My normal Friday routine would take me to Friday Coffee Club at Swings on G St near 17th, and I would usually go downtown via the MBT. BYT, I am happy to take another route to increase team participation and/or add miles. I usually leave the house around 7, but again can go earlier or a bit later if that helps.
Whose in? We can figure out a route and time
Yes! Andrea is in! Team 26, Cookie Monster team commute on Friday! Love it! ❤️❤️❤️
OPTION A
How about all who can, converge on Jan 24, at 7:45 am
Rock Creek Park Trails Parking lot
[https://goo.gl/maps/ijD3JTz4G6xTHNH1A%5DThat’s near the Georegetown waterfront by the Watergate bldg.
And end at the Friday Coffee Club at ME Swings.I come from the Bethesda area via the Capital Crescent Trail and could do something more/different.
Takoma Park riders can converge earlier.
Northern VA riders from the other direction and converge earlier.OPTION B??
I’m flexible. Just throwing out an idea, but not wed to it.

Maybe. If I’m not riding my bike (somewhere else).Andrea
ParticipantDid you all see this? Kinda cool!
The Freezing Saddles heat maps are back! See where and when a given team has been riding, or all participants together.
Andrea
ParticipantCan you help me get onto the right thread? Looks like our’s is here.
Andrea
ParticipantWe’re in — along with the other teams. Guessing that it toook our volunteers a bit of work to make that happen. I’m grateful.
Time to get that competitive spirit going!

Hi team,
I live in N Arlington about a half mile east of East Falls Church metro. My house is right on the W&OD so I ride that trail and the Custis most of the time. I can ride or take metro to meet in DC or MD for group rides. As many of you saw at the party, I broke my wrist 5 weeks ago and I’m still wearing a cast. It comes off Monday but I don’t know how long it will be before I’m back on my road bike. I’m riding a flat foot bike (Rans) now but not in wet weather so I’ve missed several days. On my road bike I typically ride ~13 mph and 75 miles per week but on the Rans I’m slower and don’t ride as far. I’m looking forward to getting back to my road bike. I hope we get together for some group rides.Anne
Way to go, Anne! Sounds like your on your way to full recovery! What do you have in mind for group rides?
Anyone with ideas, please share. Let’s make it happen!!
I’ll need your help though. I’m a total newb at this FS stuff.Andrea

Yes. If we can get our act together, we could meet up on the CCT and combine riding together with bonus miles. Maybe on a Friday (but not this Friday)?
Yessss! Let’s schedule a team commute on Friday, Jan 24.
We could end up at the Friday Coffee Club at the M.E. Swings at 1702 G St NW, Washington, DC 20006
Commuters are always there from 7:30 to 9am every Friday.Whatcha think, everyone?

ParticipantCrazy captain idea—
How about following your teammate on Strava?
And give kudos for every activity.
AND then tell them their a rock star. Or whatever. 🙂You both earn a cookie!
Let’s do it! Please follow me and I’ll follow you!
Kudos, my friends!
Andrea
ParticipantYes! I sent the request in. It might take a day to get onto the leaderboard.
If we’re not on the board by tomorrow morning, I’ll ask again. Thanks for asking!
Andrea
ParticipantGreat idea, Eric! Wow, 3 Takoma Park teammates! And I grew up there.
Let the rest of us know if you can commute in together. Who knows, maybe more can join.
Andrea
ParticipantHey Brad! Welcome! Got cookie?
I’m open to ideas and suggestions to help you feel part of the team. And let’s kick some FS butt!
