ParticipantI think the intersection in question is a block north of that google link. It’s at Lynn and westbound Lee Highway where the Custis crosses Lynn St. At least that’s where I see the most issues.

ParticipantThat sounds awful. I hope you are healing and take time to rest and recover properly. WABA has some good info on what to do in a crash, and even though it is after the fact, I’m sure they could offer some advice. There is a phone number to contact them on this link:

We’re 3 miles from the nearest Metro station…
I haven’t commuted any way but by bicycle in many years, so I can’t really talk with experience about how the trip into DC is by public transport.
As a fair weather bicycle commuter, I can offer this:
WFC to Metro Center is 30 min or less. Plenty of outdoor unsecured bike parking, but theft and vandalism there aren’t much of a problem, at least in my limited experience. Metro fare could be as high as $3.95 each way.

Participant25 reflective bands is huge! Thanks for doing this! I left a little early this morning, but there were a few folks that could have used these! Incidentally I checked the running store near this intersection the other day, just out of curiosity, and the blinkies and reflective straps and vests they have run from $10-$25, so we’re saving the runners some cash, or at least getting them lights they wouldn’t normally pay for. Maybe next time we could set up free coffee, but only if they take and wear a reflector.

ParticipantSounds like it might be the Spoke-lit from Nitize. They have a few solid colors and one ‘Disc-o’ that changes colors.
a few other cool LED options on there too.

All 30 of them.
Does that mean that Arlingtonians are more employed and less disenfranchised than folks elsewhere, or are they a lesser part of the 99% (87%?)

ParticipantFor those of us watching from the sidelines, there’s a traffic camera feed at lee and lynn. looks like some cops at the Arlington side, but no protesters yet

ParticipantI have a small fan that I aim at my kit on a hanger next to my desk. I use it even on dry days when I sweat. kit is always dry and ready to go, for the ride home, or even lunchtime rides on the days when it’s slightly nicer out than now.

Not personally, but here’s a few reviews from Amazon.

(Also, phone-based GPS solutions have a fatal flaw on the bike – battery life. When the power runs down, not only are you lost, but you have no way to call home.)
True, but if you put in in airplane mode, it lasts much longer than you would expect, and GPS still works.
