I would take the C&O all the way though til Grace St
    L Wisconsin
    R M St NW.
    Becomes Pennsylvania
get in the left two lanes to bear left on to L St. NW
    R on 11th st

Just be aware that the L St bike lane has lots of opportunities for car to turn left through the lane and blind driveways.

To the mall, head south on 11th
    L Pennsylvania
    R 9th st

    To union Station
    south on 11th
    L on E St. NW

    Hella stance, yo.

I wonder if the tires wear unevenly with that much negative camber.

As a user of strollers, I notice that this doesn’t seem to fold up the way a more traditional stroller would.

Did anyone else click on the videos? “Low stress” is biking on a sidewalk. “Moderate-low stress” is a door zone bike lane that even shows a car door closing right in front of the cyclist and partial bike lane blockage.

I like that they have video examples, although I think you differ with them on their opinion of stress level.

Maybe we should collectively award prizes this BTWD to local jurisdictions. Maybe a tacoed wheel for the worst Falls Church-style hazards-for-your-own-good reaction?

Haha. I’m sure orange cone slalom teams (you know who you are, I’m sure they exist in Europe) drool at pictures like that, but to the rest of us, that picture makes it one of the worst rail-trails in the country. Not best.

    and on BTWD no less.

If you click on the metro stations, you get a map and a number for “Percent of Dwelling Units Connected to Station on Low-Stress Bicycle Network” I think that feature is pretty cool and shows where the county can do work to make transportation a bit more attractive. There’s no indication of the distance, though.

Wonder if they have the same data for the MARC stations as well.

    Station % Connected dwellings low-stress
    Takoma 54
    Glenmont 53
    Medical Center 46
    Forest Glen 29
    Twinbrook 28
    Grosvernor-Strathmore 26
    Silver Spring 4

    Bethesda 4
    Wheaton 1

    1. All this year I have noticed that ALL the vegetation anywhere near the power lines has been cut back, not just tree limbs or nearby trees. Shrubbery, scrub-like brush and everything. I understand the trees (but not how they actually trim them, so cruel when other shaping techniques can be used), but why everything else? Anyone know why? Just easier access to the wires? removing invasive plants? Just because they can?

    2. Yesterday, Sunday 3 April, anyone know why there was a car crash on the W&OD in Vienna near the old train station? Nothing was there on the way out (8:30am-ish), but later (10:30am-ish, I think), there was a tow truck pulling out a car. The cop stopping people from entering the trail only knew that they had to pull the car off, but not what happened. I suppose someone was driving on the trail or somehow doing doughnuts and missed in the closed section of the neighboring parking lot. If anyone knows, I would be curious to find out. I cannot yet find through a web search.
