I’m Andy — Originally from outside of Boston, been in DC since 2012. This is also my first Freezing Saddles. My one and only bike (aside from occasional dalliances with CaBi and Jump) is a green Space Horse. I’m perversely a bit proud of my current strong showing on the sleaze board, but I’ll cut that out. I’m aiming for a Super Randonneur series this year, so I’ve got to ride more.

Tell me more about this portly cycling club…

I’ve had what looks like similar issues with Strava on my iPhone the last two days. (Or maybe totally different issues?) The time is running, and GPS seems to be working — it says it has a signal, and when I look at the phone it shows my location accurately on the map — but it doesn’t draw a line on the map or record my speed or route. So, after I’m done, I get a distance as the crow flies from my starting to ending spot. I’m puzzled.

Before I started Freezing Saddles I had no idea that the distance from the CaBi dock at Union Station to the CaBi dock nearest my house is 1.1 miles. I’m now very aware of that fact, and sitting near the top of one of the leaderboards!

If you announce your goals publicly, you then have to do them, right?

My 3 goals for 2018 are:

1) Be more social in DC biking stuff — posting here, Friday coffee clubs, group rides, etc. (Second post ever! So far so good!)
2) Do freezing saddles.
3) Complete a super randonneur series.

I got mine! And with this post, I end my lurking days on the forums, and no longer have to think “Maybe I’ll do freezing saddles one of these years?”
