Also, in addition to the Strava group, the scores are maintained on the Freezing Saddles website at freezingsaddles.com which has all kinds of data that you can explore when you’re not out crushing the miles every day.
Your display name on Freezing Saddles is Alan A.
Oooh, Thanks for thank link. I wasn’t aware of that.

And yet your becoming a forum social butterfly making multiple posts. That is a start. And you ride with one or more people often. I wouldn’t ride often at 4:30am-ish either if I wasn’t doing it on a trail. Biking in rush hour in the dark and rain is not the best way to make it to the next BAFS social event.
Bob! I hope you didn’t think that 4:30 am statement was geared towards you!! Although, I do know that you are an early bird, but I’ve noticed that a lot of cyclists are out riding when they should be taking a morning pee break!

ParticipantI’m a newbie, so I’m not exactly sure how all this stuff works. But I’m assuming I get at least a point for each mile. Also not sure what my proper user name is. I’m AlanA here on the forum and Alan Adams on the Strava group leaderboard. If there’s another username, I’m not aware of it.
But I will be very optimistic and guess 3,456.

ParticipantWhat are the rules about location?
If I happen to plan a few out of town trips during FS, may I count those visits?
AlanA
ParticipantForget the sock competition. Those shoes are awesome, too!

ParticipantWell, dang! Except for going to the opening happy hour, I’m pretty sure my score will be the lowest possible!
I despise coffee (but I do love my Diet Mt. Dew), and I prefer as little interaction with other humans as possible. (Sorry…It’s been a rough year with the election and stuff that I prefer to avoid people if I can).
I know. I’m not the type of people you are looking for, but I like to ride by bike (assuming it’s dry).Oh yeah. And I don’t like waking up at 4:30 am to do dumb bike stuff!!
AlanA
ParticipantSure, this dumb FS competition had me go out and log in at least one mile when I never would have even of thought of doing something so stupid! And then add on that I had a few drinks during this dreary day, and it was a ride that won’t be forgotten for a while. Just trying to get started and then trying to get off the bike were quite amusing. I’m just glad (hopeful) that no one saw me.

ParticipantUnless Bob James is on your team, make sure you buy him as many drinks as possible!!
It’s the only chance for us mere mortals to have a chance.

ParticipantYou know, Heineken sounds very German to me, and so does Beck’s.
Das Bier ist sehr gut! (I think I get bonus points just for saying that)!
AlanA
ParticipantBut it wasn’t even that cold today. I don’t think that other peoples miles should count since it wasn’t freezing! Although mine should still count since I’m new at this.
AlanA
ParticipantWow! I knew you people were frikken nuts, but I just had no idea!!!
Have fun you hearty souls. I will be in dreamland.

ParticipantI didn’t get this email, but I did everything I was supposed to do before the deadlines. Does this mean I’m not playing along??

I have now shared the Google calendar with all the email addresses of the officially registered players.
Not everyone is familiar with how to use a Google calendar, so there have been some boo-boos. Specifically, some have been deleting events. Note that if you delete an event in a shared calendar like this, it is deleted for everyone, not just you. (for instructions on how to use a shared Google calendar, click here)
I have given everyone total rights to add, edit, delete and otherwise alter the calendar, including sharing with new people. I did this because I would like it to be crowd-sourced, and because I don’t want to have to moderate everything myself. I believe there will be a shake-out period as people figure it out.
In the meanwhile, you should now have access to the Freezing Saddles Official-ish Calendar. If you want to use a different email address, then share the calendar with yourself at the other address (or PM me with the correct email address if that confuses you). Feel free to add pertinent events to the calendar.
I don’t think I deleted any events (at least not that I was aware of). But I did delete the email thinking it was spam/malware since I didn’t recognize the sender. Next time I’ll know better.
But maybe it might be a better idea to use a better subject or description for us unwary newbies.

ParticipantI just ordered one of those from Stephan Pastis’ website.
The only problem is that they moved the comma to after “Hey”. Oh well. At least it’s still shiny and bright.

ParticipantThe newest member of this crazy group will also be there. But no bike. I don’t drink and ride, but I do like beer!!
