Congrats Bob! The top 3 are all insane really.
Yup! These folks are way out of my league!! I like a bit of balance.
Maybe they should go ride with that Lowlander dude near LA that is usually #1 on the US climbing challenge each month.

ParticipantI’m certainly good with April 9th, also.
Metro has already implemented a moderate snow plan for bus service tomorrow. And that is most likely to be a best case scenario.
They’re talking 8-14″ now for parts of MoCo (where I am).
The above post brings up a good point for “that final moment where things can be cancelled”. I know some diehards will still show up, but that’s not really an option for us folks in the burbs.

ParticipantJust a dumb question (since I know you all are serious diehards). But will this event go on regardless of weather?
Since Wed. looks quite questionable up my way, I’d leave really early and just hope that Metro/Bus gets me there. And that way, my beer prize stays nice and cold, and I can warm up to Happy Hour, and hopefully not be too obnoxious during the final ceremonies.

ParticipantI will be in the comfort of my home moving my mouse in circles around the screen while watching something entertaining on Netflix and having a few drinks.
Maybe someone could post each time they do a lap, and I’ll have a drink to celebrate (while doing another circle with my mouse)!
And I’m not worried about drinking too much tonight. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to do a ride tomorrow!!

Participantlol, Go Sarah!! AKA #3.
I’m not sure how she’s going to ride home with all her prizes Tuesday night.

I am truly baffled by this and have no idea what’s going on, but all the infiltrators on team 20 are now called Cheaters on the FS leader board.
8. BAFS 2018 Team 20 – The Infiltrated: 17,686 points (10,846 miles)
Cheater 3: 2,318 points (45 days, 1,868 miles)
Steve S: 2,255 points (63 days, 1,625 miles)
Doug E: 2,056 points (74 days, 1,316 miles)
Cheater 4: 1,964 points (46 days, 1,504 miles)
Ryan S: 1,699 points (67 days, 1,029 miles)
Brian C: 1,418 points (56 days, 858 miles)

randi f: 964 points (74 days, 224 miles)
Anjali K: 808 points (54 days, 278 miles)
Joshua H: 616 points (39 days, 226 miles)
Elizabeth B: 616 points (40 days, 256 miles)
John M: 502 points (35 days, 162 miles)
Cheater 2: 26 points (1 days, 16 miles)
Cheater 5: 20 points (1 days, 10 miles)We jumped from 20th to 8th, so no prizes, but I do hope the system works and it goes back down to 20. None of this matters, but some of it matters more to some than to others.
I find it amusing that they would waste the effort to get people who have ridden one day. But maybe the choice of cheatees was very low.
I am a bit sad to see them go poof from the leaderboard, though. Not sure why’d you’d punish most of the members who don’t even have a clue to as what’s going on. I guess there really is an almighty being that can punish when they feel like it.

I thought this was a totally reasonable question — I certainly don’t see why a team captain had to publicly blame his teammate for bringing it up privately. And though I would have booted the person who was late to join if I was in charge, I’m not in charge and I didn’t put in any work other than riding my bike. I also don’t think anyone can blame the Dark Cabal – well, except maybe AlanA – for its decision.
More importantly, and as someone who takes every “competition” way too seriously: Who cares?!
I’m pretty sure Rule 5 is in effect here.

I do realize that once in a while I may read a certain negativity into some of the posts, especially when aimed at me in particular. And I have been advised that this is all in good fun, and that most people make comments meant to be taken in a humorous way. I have come to accept that. But…..
Maybe I don’t know how to read, but would you please explain to me where I publicly blamed a teammate for this. My original post said that I was made aware of this by a teammate (who was never named by me). I figured that since I have VOLUNTEERED to be a Captain of a team, that I should at least do something to follow through, so I made my original post. Perhaps my mistake was to make a post, and I should have done it via private message. But I certainly was not aware of that option. I have no problems with any decisions made, and was never trying to publicly blame or humiliate anyone. Just a simple inquiry. But apparently with this group, there is no such thing as a simple inquiry.
And if anyone dislikes my post I will accuse them of disliking all posts made by volunteers!! (There, how am I doing with this board humor??) It’s all in fun.

Anybody else want to say something nice about a first year player on their team so that I don’t have to cancel this prize?
Hah! You better not cancel this prize. I told Rachel that she’d win some money and could buy me a beer at the final Happy Hour. (and I won’t even have to sell my email address!!)
AlanA
ParticipantI’ll nominate Rachel C. from team 17. She’s ridden every day this year, done sleaze rides at 4 am before flights out of town, gotten QOM’s in at least three states (maybe 4) during the competition, and is currently #2 on her team.
And plus, I even got to do a ride with her. She’s pretty frikken amazing!! (And can stomp pretty much anyone around on the hills!!)

ParticipantThanks for all of the assorted comments and the great (and some stupid) ideas!
I’m still sort of new at all this, and was stupid enough to volunteer to be a team captain in my 2nd year, so I had only started this discussion after team mates had brought it too my attention. I most likely would never even had noticed, as I’m sure that most people wouldn’t have, either.
I’m ok with leaving everything as is, since as someone pointed out “stuff happens” and that this is not that unusual. I certainly don’t want to stir up any trouble or have anyone tossed from a team. I just want to go for a ride (in hopefully some warmer and less windy weather).
However, since I will be presenting a prize to Rod for creating his dumb “circle” ride, if they happen to end up ahead of our team, his six pack may be Natty Boh instead of a fine premium craft beer. (And in case you can’t tell, that is some of my strange humor)

Liar.
Why do you think I would waste my effort to post a lie on a stupid forum? There is certainly no one here that I need to impress with anything. I thought the whole idea was to ride your bike and have fun, and not to attack other people. But then again, it is a public forum, so I guess I shouldn’t expect as much.

Team 7 is currently 2 points behind the 12 member team – I think Rule 5 is in effect here.
Personally, I don’t really care. I was only pointing out what a team mate had mentioned. I do realize that the prize money for #2 vs. #3 is quite similar, and that the difference won’t change my retirement planning.
And if Rule 5 were in effect, I think other random teams should have 13 and 14 members just to make it more interesting.
