I have been meaning to talk with you about a ride outside the city. About 45 minutes out 66 Front Royal, there is a great loop that is about 60 miles, according to the terrain map it should be a great ride. We could get a group together and caravan out and hit a 60 miler… There are also a couple of cut throughs that would make it about 30-40 miles. Thoughts? Anybody up for that?

I do think that we, the cyclists, need to take some responsibility too. I commute from Fairfax to DC and I see of lot of people running stop signs / lights and cutting in front of cars. I will go if it is clear but I see a lot of people not really even looking before they dart out.

Great idea. Good luck to Revolution and City Hub. 3 hours does not seem like a lot of time though. Are there options to keep it longer?

Good article Tim. I just finished a book called Bike for Life and they discussed this in there as well. Just keep in mind that your 18 lb bike is no match for a 5000 lb SUV and be safe.

If I bike to work I eat more. If I eat more, more plants and animals die to sustain me. More processing plants and factories are run thereby negating the energy savings of my car. But my legs look awesome so I am in… Just kidding. I am registered. TK Let me know if you need help on this, I think it is a great idea.

A skull cap helps and cuts down on the embarrassing walk. However, The best thing to do is keep some hair stuff in your desk or a small amount in your bag and fix it up when you get there. I am fortunate enough to have a shower at work so I don’t worry.

How about a spring flowers ride? I know there are a ton of places where flowers grow wild and in beds along the roads. In a month or so they will be coming into bloom. I don’t know how feasible this will be or how easy it will be to figure out a good route.

    Welcome,

I am pretty new to this forum as well. And the proud new owner of a new Cervelo S1, although Saturday it owned me more than I owned it…

Where do you ride? Do you commute?

Here are a few questions that you should ask yourself or other might ask you.

    1. What is your price range? Inexpensive means different things to different people. My new bike I will use to commute is around 2k.
    2. Can you ride paved trails or road all the way? This may determine what type of bike you need.
    3. Will you need to carry a lot of things with you on your commute?
    4. Does speed matter?
    5. Is the guy answering this making things more difficult than they need to be? Just Kidding.

I also am new to the forum. Tomorrow I test ride a Cervelo S1. What type of bike are you looking for and what is your price range?
