I’m thinking we can call it tomorrow – but between Metro, busses, UBER… bikes, walking… hopefully we can all attend.
And maybe the snow will be a bust?
But yes, game day call – I think

I suggested the same to W&W in an email this AM, but haven’t yet received a response – perhaps she’s been out riding all morning.

    Last minute Volunteer sought!

I was recently reminded that in past years we have given out prizes for top mileage male and female riders*. As of right now, no one has taken on the job of recognizing these athletes. If you would be willing to step up for these prizes, please let me know here or via PM. Thanks.

*Sorry, FS is stuck in a bigendered worldview. Don’t complain to me; I’m just the goat-roper.

Team 20 will be the largest team to ever witness the Freezing Saddles closing happy hour — period — both in person and around the globe.

However, since I will be presenting a prize to Rod for creating his dumb “circle” ride, if they happen to end up ahead of our team, his six pack may be Natty Boh instead of a fine premium craft beer. (And in case you can’t tell, that is some of my strange humor)

No fisticuffs at the awards ceremony, if you please. This will not be that kind of biker bar.

No city with drivers like DC’s, lack of traffic enforcement, and incomplete, poor infrastructure should ever be Gold.

Note that Gold is not as high a level as you might think; it is only the middle of five levels. It is above Bronze and Silver, but below Platinum and Diamond. According to the article, no community has achieved Platinum to date.

If DC ever improved to the point of meriting Platinum, what would we have to talk about?

Looks to me like you organized a beer Taste Test. #fs2018taste

Alas, Melinda’s flight got cancelled (probably a good thing, considering what flying was reportedly like today) so she won’t be joining us, but I still have a yen for a bike ride!

Due to the fact that we couldn’t exactly get it together in time (and besides, it’s going to be rainy), the Sleet 16 happy hour is officially postponed to a TBD date.

So what do you mean by “Continental”? I’m finding a lounge and a beer garden with the same name. Beer garden sounds more fun. Anyhow, I am up for it Thursday evening, getting there around 6:30 or so. However, if we want to do it another day because of the rain, that’s fine.

Unfortunately, the beer garden is not yet open for the season. Only the lounge is open.

Just cross-posted to our Strava Team group for those who are not forum readers.

Anyone on the team want to meet up for a HH sometime this upcoming week? Weather has been so crappy on the weekends we haven’t been able to get any team rides in…

Also our team has both the first and last place rider in Freeze Points! Will does have an excuse as he IS riding in the summer (but he did invent the Freeze Points metric)!

Thursday could work for me. My commute is Rosslyn to East Falls Church – but could detour as appropriate.

You’ve thrown out enough New York facts that a New Yorker history ride would probably be easier. Team of Rivals is a great book and I meant to mention it at the Obama stop. Obama very deliberately attempted to cast his Presidency in the mold of Lincoln and Doris Kearns Goodwin served as an advisor to Obama. (She is also the funniest historian I’ve ever seen interviewed.) His appointment of Hillary Clinton (kind of a New Yorker) as Secretary of State was similar to Lincoln’s appointment of Seward (a real New Yorker) to the same position despite being rivals for the party’s nomination.

We New Yorkers are proud of our presidents, from the great (the Roosevelts) to the mediocre (Martin Van Buren) to the not-so-great (Millard Fillmore, and maybe one more). Using Judd’s loose “lived in the state” qualification, New York can also claim Grant, Clinton, Arthur, Eisenhower, … and maybe more.
