ParticipantThis is actually my second pair of electric gloves. The first pair were bulky, like ski gloves, making it hard to work the shifters. The new ones are thinner and so better suited to cycling (the flip side being that they don’t have as much passive insulation). They’re billed as glove liners, though I can’t imagine what gloves they’d fit inside of.
And yes, I used the old pair during Freezing Saddles last year, so add an asterisk after my name in the records if appropriate.

ParticipantSanta’s not bringing me anything – not even a lump of clean, beautiful coal, so in my never-ending quest to keep my hands warm in winter I gave myself a present of a pair of electric gloves. So far, I love them. We’ll see if they remain efficacious when it gets really cold.

ParticipantWell, I hope they fix this …

I thought chaos was the whole point.
Seriously, I would be willing to once again serve as Pointless Prize Potentate.

ParticipantBobco, great catches. Some poor animator with a limited budget at an A&E firm made this thing to show the concept and now we’re nitpicking it to pieces.
One thing that’s probably accurate – the preponderance of luxury cars. I noticed Porsches (Macan and Panamera), Range Rovers, Audis (A6 and R8), Lexus, BMWs, at least two Aston Martins, a Maserati, Mercedes, some exotic sports cars I couldn’t identify, Jaguars, and for the eco-minded, a Chevy Bolt.

0:43 of the utopian video on that page features an off-screen collision between a car and a bicycle taking the lane down Crystal Drive.
While I wouldn’t take the video too literally, the animators neglected to include any of the the existing bike lanes! The cyclists on 15th St. (1:34) are riding in a traffic lane of what has become a three lane street, and the protected lane in front of the WTFCC Whole Foods is gone (2:15). Plus, they’re flying a delivery drone within the FAA no drone zone around the airport & DC (1:21).

Oh, good decision! I wasn’t looking forward to trying to play music after clutching the bars for 63 cold, wet miles and so will happily switch to the short distance.

Participant20 MPH is unrealistic. No one will adhere to it, even with serious enforcement. Better to enforce existing speed limits and keep people off their phones while driving.

ParticipantI’ll help out at Rosslyn.

ParticipantI’ll be there in my Yoshi kigurumi. I do have a music gig that evening (at B Chord Brewery in Bluemont) so if the weather is crappy (let’s hope the forecast improves) I may not ride the long route.
