I think in lieu of the shockingly high number of riders/miles BAFS players are putting down on trainers I thought why not offer up the WORST and MOST POINTLESS prize EVER.

For the rider who rides the most miles and the rider who spends the most time on a trainer/zwift/virtual etc… I would like to invite them up on the stage at the final happy hour to award them with embarrassment from their peers. I may even get them a very shitty award involving paper clips and hot glue and sharp objects they won’t want to ride home with in their pockets…

Ok, maybe this is a bit mean, and at the end of the day we (folks who ride outside) are having way more fun anyway. but regardless, I think theses people deserve some recognition for being the most anti-BAFS possible. Perhaps we could make them sing karaoke too? OOOOh, maybe I could bring a trainer and they could be forced to pedal on stage during happy hour? Maybe that would considered cruel and unusual punishment???

Slackers INCLUDED or EXEMPT, your vote?

I’m open to prize related suggestions here?

I’m in a rowing competition. Does that count? Only indoor rowing is allowed. :) We’re 22nd out of 533 teams. http://log.concept2.com/challenges/vtc/2017/teams

Why do you have a specialized e-bike on a trainer? That’s super lazy and against at least two BAFS rules.

Note that Zwift rides are classified as “VirtualRide” in Strava, and so they will not be sync’d. Also rides marked as “trainer” will not be sync’d — or manual or #nobafs. If you do see a ride that looks like a fake ride, let me know. I’m pretty sure the price for forging rides is DQ for the team (though not sure who makes those rules, probably cvcalhoun?), so I am quite confident no one will do that deliberately :-)

Honz, do they get dumped somewhere? Or does your parsing routine literally just skip right over them? If they get discarded as GARBAGE (which they are!) I’m happy to sift thought the trash to find the dirtiest of them all. Otherwise we just have to take nominations and put it to a poll! That could be even funnier! A peer poll to vote of who everyone thinks sucks the most, this could get ugly[emoji109]

Good point Brett. I think I’ve seen some indoor trainer rides without the #NOBAFS” tag to ensure they are excluded.

HOZN can answer for sure but I think that you can exclude trainer miles in Strava by checking the trainer box. I can’t answer for sure as my trainer is in the back of the shed…….

They’re having a discussion on NBC test Strava group where all the virtual training riders want them included in NBC stats. One person said “a ride’s a ride”. I think there is a big difference facing the elements, traffic and road conditions to sitting on a trainer pedaling. There’s no doubt the virtual ride is a workout and makes no difference if you except more effort, you’re still just sitting there pedaling in place. Of course, the topic should be mute for NBC since it runs from May-Sept.

They really just get skipped. I am thinking through how we could save these somewhere without polluting the legit rides.

I don’t want to make ANY work for you, but…. that would be cool. The easiest thing I’m thinking may be

    ridersTotalMiles – ridersBAFSMiles = garbageAssTrainerMiles!

I am presuming that ewilliams and rcannon100 are collaborating on a single prize here, although you started separate threads.
Personally I like the Pointless Pointless Prize title better.

For keeping the list of Pointless Prizes accurate, let me know whether it’s one or two and the “official” title (is anything “official” in FS?)

I think you are confused on the definition of garbage miles. Every minute on the trainer is focused and has a purpose. Noodling around at 14mph for 7 hours is literally the definition of garbage miles.

I will also add that if the pointless prize is based on miles, anyone not on an electronically controlled smart trainer is at a major disadvantage. On my Kickr i can ride 53×11 (34ish mph) at 100 watts without breaking a sweat. I certainly wont be doing this as it defeats the point, but I would put nothing past Cannon.

HA! I think your missing the point entirely! I never said garbage miles, I said GABAGE🤢 like WHY THE F don’t you just do jumping jacks or some shit like that! I guess if your sole purpose of riding is to have great abs🤞and big quads[emoji109] then yeah, ride trainers. If you want to enjoy yourself a bit then yeah, it’s GABAGE, through that time in the mutha f&&&ing dumpster and feed it to the [emoji192]

PS I have big quads and nice abs regardless[emoji12][emoji869]

I am really looking forward to hours of noodling around outside at 14 MPH this winter.
