    1) New bike. Hopefully that happens this weekend, though.

    2) Get the construction out of 14th St NW. There is a bike lane for about 14 blocks from Florida to Thomas Circle. Currently there is either construction blocking some or all of the bike lane, or a major hole left by construction, in I think 7 of the blocks. At least three required you to leave the bike lane to go around, and it’s been this way for quite some time. I just want my bike lane back.

    3) Remove a lane in each direction from PA Ave, replace it with a protected two-way cycletrack, sidewalk, and flowerbeds down the middle of the street. Allow signaled u-turns at selected intersections, and station automated missile launchers at all other intersections to “deter” illegal turns.

    1. Swift construction of the connection of the Anacostia River Trails in DC to those in MD.

    2. Build the Metropolitan Branch trail between Brookland and Fort Totten.

    3. Build the PG Connector Trail between Fort Totten and West Hyattsville.

    4. Build the dang bridge on the WB&A trail over the Patuxent River already!

    5. Fund the Purple Line already (not a bike thing necessarily, but a really necessary thing).

Sadly, this appears to be such a low priority. I know when I do bike to work, I see hardly anyone else out on the trails commuting. The thing is, I think that’s because the only option really is to drive. If there were a purple line, maybe more people would do a mix-mode commute. I know I certainly would, and being able to cover some of my big distance on the purple line would allow me to use that as a primary mode, not a secondary-only-occasionally mode.

    1. Repaving of FFX Co Parkway sidepath
    2. Herndon obtaining “Bike Culture”
    3. FABB becoming flush with donations and volunteers
    4. 8spd internal hub for my 3spd Dutch Bike (can’t hurt to ask)
    5. Finding a lugged steel bike on CL (58cm) to turn into a fast fun bike
    6. At least 4 really cool FABB social rides this year (all on me if it doesn’t happen)

My wish is the same that I have every year.
    1) I want to help people do some things on a bike that they didn’t think they could.
    2) I want to do some really cool rides with people that I love. Some will be epic in distance or duration, others will be epic in fun. I’m all about being able to look back at some cool pictures, videos, GPS plots and laugh about the events of the year over a beer.

This. And fixes for the rest of the death trap intersections on W&OD (e.g., sterling).

This sounds 75% resolutions, 25% wish list.

1: Continue the Bike Related Weight Loss (60lbs so far, that’s 21% body weight)
2: Once #1 hits 25% body weight, New Road Bike…. And it’s gotta be a pretty one too.
3: 2000 miles in the saddle (Strava says 546 since I bought my bike on 14 Jul)
4: Start Commuting to Work by Bike.
    5: Rule #5
6: Take my daughter along for a ride.
7: Finish Tyson’s Corner Bike Lanes
8: Ride the entirety of the W&OD and the FFX CCT (Not on the same day)
9: Go to France for Stages 16-21 of the TdF and ride a Col.
    10: More Group Rides!

    1. Teach some bicycling courses in Fairfax County.
    2. Survive the Total 200 and scouts on the C&O.
    3. Ride a bike in at least one state I’ve never been to.
    4. A basement storage area with the same magical powers as Hermione’s purse so there would never be S-1 for either me or husband.

I pretty much have all the bike stuff I need/want right now. I don’t want a dream $10K carbon bike or anything.

What I really want is time. 30-90 days off to do an epic tour somewhere. Chile-Argentina, North Sea Cycle Route, Across US on the northern tier, across Europe, across Australia. Something along those lines.

Some day I’ll have enough time to do some of those things….

You mean you can’t do this already? You need to train better.

Of course, this power should only be used for good, not evil. Relighting pilot lights. Starting safe campfires in approved locations. Creating signal flames to communicate with people on the Eastern Shore, in Pennsylvania or in West Virginia.
