Of course you have achieved middle age when the one thing you want to do is ~ take a nap.

Wouldn’t that also apply to most high school and college students?

You know you’re emerging from the long, dark tunnel of middle age when your accounts recover from the drains of child rearing, you start to feel happier for no apparently reason, and crapping supersedes napping as a priority.

My grandmother had my mother when she was 17, and my mom had my sister when she was 20. Not really middle-aged I would say.
So my grandmother was a grandmother at 37 (middle aged?). Remarkably, she is still alive and well. Five of her grandchildren are in their 50’s, and my oldest niece, her oldest great-grandchild, is 30 (but no great-greats yet).
I also think it is cool that my mom, who is 77, still has a mom.
Not sure where that puts me on the “middle-aged” scale. Are you middle aged if you can still call up your grandma?

    In your case, yes.

Holy smokes, that’s young to become a grandma. The average age to start grandmothering in this country is between 47 and 50 (depending on which source you believe). I guess some of us will be “above average” when we get there.
