If you’re interested in a more family-bike-hack solution, I’ve seen some pics online of families that have used stroller canopies and rain gear, and even umbrellas for kids on the back of a long tail.

That sounds expensive and bulky. I was looking for something a little less permanent, I guess.

Interesting. Though i don’t really care if I get wet, it’s more for the kids. Also I’m completely incompetent at sewing. I’d likely have to bribe my sister-in-law.

Umbrellas mounted to the rails that wrap around the rear deck. It would look pro.

I was thinking of getting the kids rain ponchos for those unexpected summer rains. Does anyone have either a better suggestion for keeping them dry, or recommendations on a poncho? I don’t really want the glorified garbage bags from the dollar store, but if the more expensive ones aren’t any nicer…

Not particularly breathable, but inexpensive and dry dry dry.

Man, you all are crazy. I’m getting $1 ponchos from Target.

Although I bet I could get a custom cover for the back done by a company that makes boat covers….

Let the kids get wet…. it will be the most fun part of their day… albeit, the worst part of yours.

Kids will whine about getting sprinkled on, even as they soak themselves splashing in puddles.

This guy came up with a canopy for an Extracycle, and posted instructions for making it.

Better hope you don’t encounter too brisk of a crosswind. ;)
