WW Bridge Trail Closed Today during Day

it would be too much to ask them to close a lane to maintain service for non-autos, wouldn’t it? because, you know, there’s a quick and easy alternate for pedestrians.

Not just today either:

Alexandria, Va.: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the bike and pedestrian trail on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge during daytime hours this week to allow crews to perform bridge inspections. The bridge trail is scheduled to be closed:

Tuesday, Dec. 3: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 4: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 5: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Good thing they provided advance notice and a convenient detour. Eastbound traffic has their choice of the water taxi from Old Town or the South Capitol Street bridge.

I am just glad that I commute before 9 am and after 5. I saw the signs they had put out. But I do hate when they close my bridge.

I asked VDOT for a suggested detour on Twitter but for some reason they haven’t gotten back to me…
