Won’t the saddles feel different with the different geometry between your MTB and CX?

Wanna try a Jett? I recently discovered a wider saddle fits me better so now I have 2 Specialized Jett 143 saddles well used but still in good condition and, yes, collecting dust.

Riding position (upright vs aggressive etc) definitely is a big consideration for saddle choice. That said, after trying many (many) different saddles I settled on the Specialized Phenom on my MTB, commuter/cx, and (until very recently) on my road bike. Some saddles do work well in different configurations.

And why, oh why, does Specialized have to make such nice stuff !! I want them to find them evil, but I want (or already own) something from pretty much every line of component or accessory they make.

Yeah, I have their insoles in my non-Specialized shoes as well as 3+ of their saddles not to mention all the Purist bottles I have. I’ve test ridden their Turbo tires and thought they were nice too. Oh, actually my first ever clipless shoes were Specialized too. And first nice bike gloves. :confused:

I hadn’t actually thought about trying it on my commuter bike first. Doh. I’ll do that tomorrow – a 28 mile round trip should be a good test!

I know! Their saddles are awesome. Their shoes are awesome. Their bottle cages are awesome; I love the rib cage for holding bottles securely on the road bikes and the Zee cages for quick access on the MTB. Their bottles are without peer, especially the triangular shaped purist bottles — the best bottles to grab in a race / group-ride situation. Their helmets are awesome (though admittedly, I’m still waiting to find a yellow prevail on ebay since I don’t want to pay retail). Their MTB tires are wonderfully light work great tubeless. Their Trigger tires are my all-time favorite tires on the CX bike. And their bikes are pretty frickin’ nice too, though it is unlikely I’ll ever own one.

The only problem with Specialized is that they don’t allow online retailers to carry their stuff, so I end up supporting the LBS more than I otherwise would. So ironically they do more to encourage me supporting small local cycling businesses than any other brand.

Nooooo! If you change helmets, my kids will never be able to root for that neon-helmet guy they have come to recognize and love at Tour de Tysons!!

Heh, that’s awesome! I do love the fluo green, but the helmet isn’t well shaped to my head (my head is apparently more oblong) so it works best with a hat underneath which can be hot in the summer. Anyway, I think I am gonna do Tysons again this year (cat 4 this time) and I’ll be sure to wear the green helmet
