There are 3 connections to this wormhole: E Street SW (at the corner of 2nd SW), G Street SW (at the corner of 2nd SW) and S Capitol Street (under the Southwest Freeway, 695).
Between E and G there is a staircase, down and up, to portage your bike. The exit to S Capitol Street is through a parking lot.

Except that’s the Rock Creek Parkway. The GW Parkway is on the other side of the river, which is why I got confused by your description.

Oops…my bad… will edit and correct my description.

Multi directional wormhole. Mind blown 3 points

Fort Reynolds Park in Fairlington, one of the many “forts” erected by the Union in Arlington and Alexandria, which the Union occupied, to protect DC. It’s also a wormhole: the path leads to Abingdon Elementary School.

Is this just a regular old bike tunnel?

The less dangerous wormhole connecting the 14th St. Bridge with Boundary Channel drive.

This one uses the south tunnel under the not-so-humpy-anymore Humpback Bridge

Three wormholes on this ride: https://www.strava.com/activities/3062809615

Oak St. bridge over the beltway (Wormhole #1) and Wolf Trap Rd. connector trail (Wormhole #2) provide a shortcut from the W&OD through quiet neighborhood streets to Tysons Corner destinations south of Route 7 (largely) avoiding the Cartopian Hellscape of Gallows Rd.

Sandburg St. sidewalk (Wormhole #3) isn’t really a shortcut, but takes you between Merrifield and the W&OD while avoiding the ridiculously narrow bike lanes on Gallows Rd.

My impression is that a wormhole is an alternate route that is out of the ordinary, everyday routes everyone already takes. The best ones are ones that provide people with an alternative they otherwise would have never known about. Identifying every bike tunnel and pedestrian overpass doesn’t really meet the intent of this PP, IMHO.

It’s not the tunnel part that is the wormhole; it’s the part after the trail ends–single tracking to get to the Pentagon.

If you don’t mind a bit of cyclo-cross across the grass, take the next gap between the buildings. You can sneak through a hole in the fence without having to dismount or navigate any steps.
