ParticipantMy sense of direction is terrible, but I hope this is the portion of the trail where they have spray painted around the bumps.

ParticipantIt’s been alot longer than 6 months. It’s been bad as long as I can remember, and that’s a long time.
Glad to hear their fixing that spot. I hope they don’t cut any roots though, that can cause trees to fall.

ParticipantThey’re taking out the traffic calming?

I’m pretty sure the trees are about ten feet from the trail on the stream side at that location and may be more at risk of being undercut by the bank erosion. I’m also going to miss this speed control for those approaching the Wilson Blvd underpass.

ParticipantMore than 6 months…at least 2 or 3 years, perhaps longer. I can’t remember a time they weren’t there.
Though I’m a little sad that I’ll never see them again.

I can introduce you to some one Custis to ease your pain.

I call them my “morning cup o’ joe”. They’ll wake you up real quick if you’re riding whilst sleepy.

ParticipantGlad that is finally being adressed. Hope the section of the Custis by Washington Blvd is next.

ParticipantI second that. Nice and long needed improvement!

ParticipantIs it so smooth that I should take the long way on Monday just for the experience?

ParticipantYou can fly going westbound. Probably not such a great thing, but still 100% better.

You should take the long way every day!
And yes, it is that smooth, now if only they would repave the moguls between N Buchanan St to the Wasnington Blvd access.

ParticipantGood clean work on this. Got ready to warn my daughter when I saw/remembered that it had been milled and paved.

ParticipantSo, this morning I discovered this terrible section had just been re-paved, nice! I also, noticed a rogue commuter behind me do an unsafe pass just before going under the bridge and almost making some pedestrians go into the creek because he was going entirely too fast. It was even bad enough I ended up apologizing on behalf of the cyclist in front of me. I was going at least 17mph so it wasn’t like I was being a slouch!
I don’t want to be a downer but if you’re going to pass, do so well before going under the bridge where it’s dark and a narrow part of the trail. 3 people under that bridge side-by-side doesn’t work out too well…
