ParticipantGlad they are finally doing this work. However, if it was planned, do not recall any prior notice. Also, no detour signs for those of us not familiar with the local trail systems. It is the little things like these that actually create a bicycle friendly community.

Looks like some tweets were able to get detour signs put up.

ParticipantW&OD now open going under Carlin Springs Rd. Looks like they added stone to support the trail and re-fit the area that was falling apart with concrete. So, one can now ride or walk through now, allowing for extra social distancing given that both trails under the road are now open.
I do not recall if they fixed the gap in the railing that was under the road (I thought I saw some orange fencing, but maybe not – I was on the 4MRT side looking over while keeping socially distant from other trail users, so did not get the best look)

Nope, nor did the they replace the railing that has been missing since July. If only there was an organization within Arlington County to raise these issues.

Supposedly that is also fixed.

The tweet you reference says the “damaged railing will be fixed later this month.”

I went through the underpass this morning and there water pooling on the W&OD by the drain from the recent rain, so we’ll see if it is really fixed.

Thanks. It would be good to get photos, so if anyone else goes by and notes the pooled water, please take a picture. Members of the BAC have been in touch with NVRPA about this problem, and we will want to follow up with them.

Taken this morning. There is a slight bit of pooling seen in the first two photos. These were taken just before 10 am.

Thanks. Seems they cleared that drain, so the big, Sarah Bee eating puddle is gone.

Still not replaced as of this morning (4/17). So much for getting to it the following week.

ParticipantThis morning (5/14) I noticed that the railing on the W&OD under Carlin Springs Rd has been replaced. It might have happened during the day yesterday or day before since I do not recall checking yesterday or not (I was paying more attention to the people I was passing, whereas there were none today).
So, I think this is now all completed.

ParticipantThe culvert was clogged again today. I’ve let the NovaParks folks know, with pictures.
