    I understand there was preference for the Lee Hwy bridge, but this bridge would have been much easier to build alongside the I-66 widening, vice as a separate project.

    The difference is that there was a chance of the lee hwy bridge getting built.

    If you are following the detour signs, you are doing it wrong. Use the Columbia Street detour instead:

    I got an email and it looks like the Lee Hwy detour is opening back up to where the path is alongside the bridge again. I saw the new path last weekend and it was merely fenced off. This is a big relief to re-open what was probably the worst of the detours on the W&OD.
