Wonderfully clean trails (at least what I saw on the W&OD) this AM. Big change from yesterday PM. Sent a happy note to those responsible for trail cleanup. Do likewise if the stewards of our trails do good work, please.

At about 745, there was an ArlCo maintenance truck blocking half the path, right at the top of that little hill as you exit the Carlin Springs underpass westbound. Maintenance man was trying to blow debris off the trail in the tunnel, but mostly was just stirring up dust. A for effort, C- for execution.

He really should have parked in the lot on the north side of the trail. It’s a short walk from there…

Please send a note to trails@arlingtonva.us objecting to this practice, stating that it is creating a dangerous situation, and explaining that there is no reason the truck couldnt have been parked somewhere else safer.

Parks and Rec is awful about using the WOD as a road for their trucks during rush hour. If they need to drive on the WOD, it should at least not be during peak usage hours.

But they’re pretty great about keeping the trails passable, which is much appreciated. Maybe that can be added too.

As of this morning the tree is partially still there but moved mostly out of the way but gravel/sticks remain between Columbia Pike and 50. Saw three flats yesterday along this stretch. Nutty morning.

There was a substantial pile of gravel last night along the FMR trail just before the tunnel under Glebe Rd if you are heading west (not far from the sewage plant). This is the section where the trail splits into a Y for folks heading to Glebe or continuing on FMR to Shirlington.

You definitely don’t want to come flying out of the tunnel at night and hit that patch.
