I winter bike set-up consisted of me singing my favorite Christmas song, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Syphilis” all the way to work.
Were you leaving the Barn at about 0700 this morning, sir? I thought I saw you heading toward the trail as I rolled by. If that was you, it was a good call to keep distance from the orange guy singing badly.
Yep, 7 on the dot so I could get in an extra three mile loop over to EFC Metro and back before hitting the extended commute route. Funny, I didn’t notice any unusual noise level this morning. :p

I might have been making up the next verse when I rode past you.

I just ordered a pair of the new MASH-Giro gloves in HI-VIZ yellow.
Well gosh darn it, they’re sold out of smalls. I spose I’ll try the mediums.

STORM: Call me Ishmael.
The storm is not happy. It does not like the name Iago.

ParticipantCan someone please come get me off the MASH website before I spend any more money?
I think I need an adult!

ParticipantSuper nice ride in this morning compared to the past couple of days – ALSO NOT A SOUL – to be seen on the W&OD this morning. Zombies probably.

Wahoo! Putting on the studded tires tonight!
Stupid weather… it was FAR too nice out this AM. I put on the studded tires in preparation for rain/snow/ice/slush… instead, what I got was a slow and noisy ride.
Bah!
I hope it gets MUCH nastier for the ride home tonight in the dark…

The Weather Channel has named this “storm” Iago, either after the main character in Shakespeare’s Othello or the parrot in Disney’s Alladin.
It depresses me that my kids may grow up thinking that naming snow storms is something you should actually do.

ParticipantThe Winter Weather Advisory for D.C., Arlington and close-in areas has been canceled. An advisory remains for outer suburbs.
So be careful of those four snowflakes on your way home tonight.

Yep, empty trails is right. GoPro but no snow.

ParticipantSo is tomorrow’s commute actually more threatening? With temps potentially below freezing and overnight precipitation it would seem a better day to wheel out studded tires.

ParticipantAnother weather non-event for those of us north of the snow line.

ParticipantSince I’ll be riding the studded tires all week, maybe I should be looking forward to them actually being useful instead of just slowing me down? Nah, I think I’d prefer not getting freezing rain/sleet to ride in since the pavement will be cold enough by then to become a skating rink. Yeah, I’ve got studded tires, but the cars don’t!
