I’ve only been riding sporadically this winter, but for some reason, I decided to ride today, despite the colder-than-usual temperatures. I forgot about this Winter Bike to Work Day site/promotion/whatever, so I can’t say it encouraged me to ride.
Re Friday the 13th, I remember reading in one of the Ian Fleming James Bond novels that the Bond character would specifically choose to fly on Friday the 13th because he thought fewer people would be flying that day. I guess it would give him more personal space or better access to the vodka martinis. In the movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” there’s a vague reference to this. Bond throws a knife past a suspected organized crime boss, hitting a wooden calendar on the wall, on the space marking the 14th day of the month.
Draco: But today is the thirteenth, Commander.
James Bond: I’m superstitious.
