ParticipantIt would be fun to set up a finish line with lots of people cheering and maybe even a podium at the top of the Rosslyn Hill…

ParticipantIf my girls are outside when I get home they yell out “Daddy my man!” as I roll up. So I win.

ParticipantI get barked at by the dog at the corner of my street…doesn’t seem like a win.

ParticipantAt every yellow light I manage to clear before it turns, I raise my arms in my best TdF stage winner emulation. The joy I derive from this has much less to do with beating the light than with knowing that I’ve disappointed dozens of drivers who hoped to see me crash.

ParticipantThere’s a group in DC that does this sort of thing for bike lane users. The last event was March 9.

ParticipantThe master at this is Remi Gaillard (check out some of his other videos – he regularly gets arrested by the French police for some of the inane stuff he does)…

Occasionally a driver will cheer me up the hill to my house. Either encouragement if they pass me on the way up or congratulations if they catch me at the top. I’ve never found a podium at the top, though…

ParticipantI’ve gotten more cheers while running. I don’t know why. I’m not a superstar runner. I’m somewhere in the middle of the pack overall.
As far as cycling, I’ve gotten the most positive comments on those infrequent occasions when I’m wearing the aero helmet.

ParticipantI make whooshing zoom noises and speed up like I’m in Mario Kart when I ride over sharrow markings…
