Two candidates are Ailanthus Altissima and also Elderberry, both have ammonia-like scented flowers, or maybe Bradford Pear.

Nice to know! Still too early, though, for Elderberry to be blooming (I have approximately 12 plants that I harvest the berries from in my edible landscape).

From my ride yesterday, it looks like there are Bradford pears in the area that are blooming. I didn’t notice the smell, just the pizza and burgers at Lyon Village. :D

Has anyone noticed that a couple of spots of Custis REEK of Windex, or some other weird cleaning/chemical smell? I notice it daily – after climbing the ‘S-Curve of Death’ and going over the bridge (west-bound)… Once I get off the bridge – WHAM! Windex!

What on earth could it be? I assumed it WAS windex…. but found it odd that the odor wasn’t washed away in the rain.

    Am I just cray-cray?

Ahhhhhh. My old friend the ‘S’ Curve. I used to pass out at the pond up top there lol…the only time I earled was at the top of this as well. At least it waited till I got across the overpass lol

Cherrydale glass is also a block or so up the road. ;) (Totally joking. It is too far to be smelled at the S of eternal peril.)

Cool info on the plants. Thanks!

The bulk of the stank seems to have abated but the central core of stank seemed to be located in East Falls Church.
