I kept my eye on the weather report and radar after lunch, and talked my supervisor into letting me take an hour of leave. I kept seeing that the wind was still out of the southeast and I was hoping to get a tailwind home. I did manage to miss the worst of the rain by leaving at 4 pm, but the wind pretty much died out so no tailwind.

Of course, once it arrived, the wind seems to have never left. For today’s ride any time we were remotely headed west if we were being blown back. Luckily, our when heading west, the round was rather flat. We were riding the Williamsburg Blvd/Military rollers from west to east, so enjoyed the wind at our backs on the climbs.

The wind was brutal at times on Saturday. I went out for a run. During several gusts, my tight-fitting beanie almost got blown off my head and I almost felt like someone punched me in the chest. It was also extremely difficult to breathe in that wind.

Fortunately the strong winds have finally departed. Today should be much calmer.

Lies, dirty lies! I had a great ride home from 5-6pm on Friday and the wind didn’t pick up until 8ish – silly weather.
