    On Thursday, April 14th at 7pm in the ATS Cafeteria, Arlington County Transportation staff will host a community meeting to share updates and traffic analysis for the Wilson Blvd. Project. Staff is also seeking feedback from local users and neighbors on the project’s impacts. We hope you can join us.

    Meeting Background

    Following an extensive public process last year, the County embarked on a demonstration project targeted at improvements to safety and accessibility for all modes of travel by restriping Wilson Boulevard from North Frederick to North Manchester Streets. A commitment was made to collect traffic data and also follow-up with the community to gain feedback on impacts of the demonstration project.

    Thanks Justin. I saw that article. I’m glad the results show little impact. I can tell the whiners to stop whining.

    One thing I felt was missing was what effect the new pattern has on average auto speeds. If I remember right the previous average speed was actually above the speed limit, and was one of the justifications for the project. A reduction of average speed could account for much of the very slightly marginally travel time. Also wasn’t the speed limit on that stretch reduced from 35 mph to 30 mph in the past two years?

    Also, whenever I’m in Arlington I make a point of riding westbound a couple mornings a week in the middle or towards the end of rush hour. I have NEVER seen any eastbound traffic back up between Four Mile Run and George Mason, and never any back up of cars trying to turn onto Wilson from neighborhood side streets. Just saying…
