ParticipantThank you for this!
Unfortunately I believe I’ve followed all of the steps (have data from the 1st out there, joined the FS group on strava, checked all the grant access boxes, etc) , but still get an error when doing the oauth for the site. I had this issue when I registered, but thought maybe it was a hold over from last year’s data or something, if I was premature.
Authorization Failed
There was an error authorizing the Freezing Saddles application to access your Strava account.
Error code: ATHLETE_NOT_FOUNDNo urgency from me, I just want to make sure I don’t get bumped out for lack of participation
My strava account number is 643261.

ParticipantWell, in case Strava hasn’t caused enough problems already, the Strava site has been up and down today. Their status page says everything is fine. Their status page lies. We can’t get Strava to authorize when Strava itself is down, but I seriously hope they will get their act together soon.

That seemed to work. Will begin obsessively checking leader board soon. Thx.

ParticipantHello. Thanks to everyone involved for setting up the user interface . The Freezing Saddles Leaderboard identifies me only as “David”. Would it be possible to identify me more specifically?
How about David P. or FFG. The way it is now, even I don’t know who I am) Thanks again.Who should I ask about this?

ParticipantFast Friendly Guy: I’m tracking this issue here: https://github.com/freezingsaddles/freezing-web/issues/73

ParticipantI have a similar issue: I am showing as “Eric” instead of “Eric P” I thought I knew who i was, but now I’m not sure. I guess if all of the other Eric’s have a last initial, it is ok, but in case this is a symptom of a larger problem I thought you should know. Thanks

Yeah, this is a bit weird. In prior years, if two people had the same first name, they both had a last initial shown. Otherwise, it was just first names. However, this year, we have people who have the same first names as others without the initial. And Kris N gets a last initial, in spite of being the only Kris on the board.
However, it looks like obscurerichard is already on this one, so I’ll leave him to do his job.

ParticipantThe current algorithm in use is to use only a first name if it is unique among the participants, and to disambiguate using one or more letters from the last name.
I think it would be good to allow logged in users to update their display name without having to get the administrators involved.

The issue is, it’s not working that way. See my comment, above.
