ParticipantSo I guess the idea of getting matching tattoos is over. Rats.

ParticipantI think I own one of the more, errr, “distinctive” jerseys on the forum:

The design is from an actual French advertisement in the early 1900s.

The only ones we could do that would identify us year round would be face tattoos.

ParticipantMatching tattoos on our palms combined with a secret handshake might get some traction.

ParticipantI’m in on anything from jerseys to stickers – except the reflective Velcro staps. I’ve already carped about those. Bright yellow is always a plus but then I’m enough of wuss ( woose ?) to put personal safety above fashion – oh the shame!

I vote for tattoos, branding and tongue piercings.
[In reality, I will never get any of those. But I thought it would be neat to suggest on the forum.)

ParticipantHow about time trial helmets? I wonder how much time it would shave off my commute?
Actually I’m all in for a jersey or bike sticker.

ParticipantThe wool jerseys from these guys look splendid: http://cimacoppi.ca/ and it looks like they do custom work with no minimum order. I can’t imagine that a custom would be any less than the $120 for their standard designs, but boy are they nice looking jerseys.

ParticipantNot to be a downer either, but I am a graphic designer and projects like these are rather thankless. You cannot – cannot – design by committee. You have to assign the task of project-managing the design to one person and he/she has to be the ultimate decision-maker. Then that person works with a designer to come up with appropriate artwork. Otherwise, the back ‘n forth trying to please everyone and arguing can get out of control, the time you spend on it gets ridiculous, and you end up with a slapdash piece of crap (no disrespect, but the MORE jersey project comes to mind). And I would never advocate for a design contest b/c honestly things like that seriously devalue the work that graphics professionals do, and, no matter what, every person who works on something that isn’t picked may waste an enormous amount of their time. So I hope ya’ll can understand why asking a graphic designer to step up and volunteer might be met with some resistance.

They do make good stuff. I know the folks behind it, and have a couple of their things (not the jerseys themselves, though). Huge cycling fans, and lots of pride in their work.

Also, what TXGoonie said: 1) Design isn’t free. 2) It should be a dictatorship, not a democracy.

So you’d go with a nose ring? I think we have a winner!

ParticipantLike Riley, I’m up for just about anything, although I might even go for the Velcro strap. The “problem” with clothing, even a jersey, is that it gets covered up at some point during the year. A strap or sticker or pannier/backpack stencil is that you only see it from one direction. (Us slow pokes will notice it when we get passed — but none of us will see a sticker on the back of a helmet when coming towards each other.)
For what it’s worth, I always thought eh BikeArlington jersey was the “unofficial” jersey of the forum
