ParticipantHF – That is what happens when you show up late for one my group rides.
If it makes you feel any better, I’m not on the leaderboard either. The folks that make the magic work are working on it.

I am on the list here, but cannot find myself anywhere in the Freezingsaddles website, I’m neither in the individual leaderboard nor under “People”. I have reauthorized Strava via link sent by Chuck to allow my private info to be seen by FS. However, when I click “Login” on the far right side of FS website, it takes me to the Strava/FS Authorization dialog. When I click “Authorize”, it give me the following:

Hi, HF.So you are a Strava athlete, we get that. Unfortunately, one of these two things is true:
you are not registered with any of the configured Freezing Saddles teams, or
you did not give Strava permission for us to “View your complete Strava profile”. Without that, we can’t see what clubs you belong to.
If the latter is true, try to login again and grant us permission to “View your complete Strava profile”.Somthin’ ain’t right…
FYI, my Strava name is different from my forum name, FWIW.

I was beginning to wonder not only I can’t get to a ride in time, but also can’t follow signup instructions anymore. Maybe I should double up on Geritol and sign up for freezing walker instead
Thank you both!

ParticipantHow does Robert S have 3 days on Jan 2nd? That’s a sweet trick!

Just before Christmas. Not sure the exact date. I think the recaptcha was defective somehow because I would hit submit, then get the recaptcha challenge, then it would spin forever. I never got a link in e-mail at all.
The recaptcha occasionally glitched. It’s a Google recaptcha, so there is literally no way to fix it, unless someone has contacts over at Google. However, if anyone e-mailed me or PMed me at the time, I was able to get them registered. The e-mail address, and instructions to e-mail me if you didn’t get a link in e-mail, were given both in the original instructions and on the registration form.
I know it’s tough to read through detailed instructions, especially when you’re distracted by the holidays. And the process for registering is necessarily complicated. But we really don’t have a lot of options to simplify it or make it clearer.

It’s the magic of time zones.

I don’t think so, unless the west coast time zone has changed this year. It appears he has three rides, all in the Seattle area, with two occurring yesterday. Somehow that has equated to three days.

Oh, but it is that kind of magic. Strava shows the rider’s local time; the competition (since it’s DMV-centric) starts at midnight EST, so his 12/31 10PM ride counts. (This happened last year as well – note Nadine’s “time warp” comment on that ride
)

ParticipantI think the culprit is his December 31, 2018 at 10:09 PM ride. Technically, this ride was done on Jan 1st, 01:09AM EDT. If one adds up all FOUR of his rides, it matches his total mileage thus far. If he had completed ride an hour early, (before 2100 PST on Dec 31 PST), it would NOT have registered.
Blame the timezone difference!

ParticipantIt’s all part of my ongoing plot to break Steve O’s scoring system (on the FS site, go to “Alternate Scoring” -> “Steve O’s Crazy Idea” and look at the Adjusted Points for me)
On the flipside, it also means that if I don’t get my day’s ride started by 9 pm PST, then it won’t count for that day. Yet another reason (the daylight savings time chaos should be enough by itself as a reason) why the world should just switch to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).

ParticipantThanks for explaining. I wrongly assumed the days were governed by local time. On a side note, what are the bookends for the 100 mile weekly limit?

Did you join the Freezing Saddles 2019 Strava team? If not, please do so now, and try again on the FS website: https://freezingsaddles.org/authorize
I’ve resolved several issues in the past couple of days that were causing trouble for people in registering and showing up on the leaderboard.

I believe this has been resolved. It was an known issue that I was not aware of at the time of my posting.

ParticipantSo for those of us on the cusp of the event horizon that is the nebulous wait-list, should we attend the HH and if so, can we schmooze ourselves into a better position as a replacement.
Who are the captains and what do they each wish they got from Santa?
What constitutes the fine line between currying favor & just sounding clingy, needy, creepy etc.Asking for some wanna be “Friends of BAFS”
