ParticipantI am Nicole/ Nikki (I introduce myself to Nicole but answer to Nikki since I use that on twitter). I ride a black Surly LHT and am primarily a commuter/ utility rider. I also have a Brompton but that is my travel bike so I don’t ride it around here much. I spend a lot of time on twitter complaining about lack of enforcement wrt bike lanes. Occasionally, I try to do something a little more than complain about it. I should be out an about a lot more in the coming weeks since as a slow, hill hating rider I decided the Climate Ride in September would be a smrt thing to do. 😮

ParticipantI’m George, aka the guy who loves bikes and bike culture but rides about as much as I climb Everest these days. Coaching HS rowing in the afternoons and keeping up with a 6 month old will do that to you. My handle (also my twitter and strava) is a mish-mash created from the fact (according to my friends) that I used to have more gortex jackets than most people had underwear. When June hits you’ll find me commuting again along the Custis, WO&D, 4MR, and Commonwealth Ave between Bluemont and and the King St. metro area. My main steed is a Bamboosero bamboo commuter, but if I feel the need for speed I hop on my red and black Cannondale CAAD8. The bike goes faster than me. I break most elite rules since I have mtb pedals on all my rides… including llamas. Beer solves all problems. Yes.

ParticipantI’m Jake. My moniker comes from my DJ moniker back in my raving/clubbing heyday. I rediscovered cycling about two years ago after having trained muaythai for five and realizing that my knees were no longer the same as they were when I was 20. I am a twice weekly bike commuter and a general cyclist going on and off road. Also, I have recently become active in bicycle and pedestrian advocacy in the city of Alexandria hoping to make life better for those who prefer not to use a motor to get everywhere.
See you guys around.

ParticipantErnie, short for Ernesto.
Been riding a long time…used to have a Gitane now ride a 10+ year old Giant OCR1. Both of my knees have been replaced so I ride accordingly. I hate the cold so I ride inside until the 60’s show up. Riding when it is 90+ is favored. Generally, I ride the WO&D due west but do some streets on occasion. We have a small group of 3-4 that can do impromptu rides during the week, sometimes in the morning, sometimes at mid day but generally in the afternoon….

ParticipantI’m Lucas – long-time reader, newly joined. My commute is from Capitol Hill to downtown. I ride a black steel SS with green/yellow lightwire around the frame.

ParticipantI’m Ryan.
I commute from Capitol Hill to downtown on an old mountain bike that I turned into an electric commuter/neighborhood bike. Pretty lazy given the distance I’m covering, but magnificent when you’re wearing a suit in the summer or hauling groceries. It also scoots me back and forth between meetings during the day faster than my coworkers can taxi.
For recreation I ride a black Lemond steel CX bike of unknown vintage.
I used to be a bike mechanic in the mid-90s to early aughties, so hydraulic disc brakes mystify me.

ParticipantI’m Mike Roy. My username relates to the old Miko Glaces ice cream company that sponsored the former pro team shown on my jersey in this pic (with my son and sometime stoker-okay, you can’t really make out the Miko on the arm but almost …):

You might see me at coffee meet up on Friday mornings, commuting on weekdays, or on a weekend ride, usually on my old Specialized Allez comp but sometime on a C’dale cross bike or occasionally with my son on our Bike Friday Family tandem.
