ParticipantI’m another Chris – although it’s actually Christine. I can be found commuting on the Custis and MVT on a red hybrid (I think that’s what it is) being passed by the rest of you while I work on my cadence. I have commuted by bike on two continents and in four different countries and have the distinction of not only having been hit by a car while biking, but also have been hit by a bike while walking. Next, I’ll be hit by a pedestrian while standing still

ParticipantPete, though not the only one. Commute on a Grey Trek 7300 up to Tyson’s, but sure to become Reston or Herndon as our company moves further out the toll road. Spending more and more on my Team Cannondale coloured Synapse, on which I sometimes break Rule #17.

ParticipantSteve is actually my real name. Steve Offutt. I’m a member of the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee and President of RUB (Remove Useless Bollards). Also, chair and only official member.
I ride either a red steel Fuji with fenders, rack and sometimes Arkel pannier (generator hub on front in the winter) or a 1961, 3-speed Western Flyer, black, with chrome fenders and a basket on the front. If you want to actually look at me, google image my name and then try to guess which image is mine.March 15, 2013 at 10:53 am #964785Dirt

Are you riding a llama? Was it an ELITE beast?
It was ELITE as long as we were heading in the direction of the barn. She saved the speed portion of the ride for the second half of the excursion.

Can’t believe I shaved my beard. Classic mistake.

ParticipantI am Justin, can be found on the W&OD between Shirlington and Ballston weekdays and sundry other locations/roads/trails otherwise. Red/silver/black Giant OCR (with a rear rack and BikeArlington pantleg band reflective doohickey below the seatpost) for commutes, silver/red/black (yeah, complete coincidence, really) Fuji Frankenbike for other / touring uses. Also generally known to abuse ELITE rider clothing protocols.

ParticipantI’m Matt – I ride a green Kona with “nav light” pedals (red on the left, green on the right). As you are passing me – and I’m confident you’ll be passing me – you may notice the red “Ampelmannchen” on my CamelBak. I commute from Falls Church to Ballston.

ParticipantI’m Cyndi – a recovering kayaker. I love gear but still own more kayaks than bikes. Usually I’m on the W&OD, MVT, or Custis. Sometimes I get to go other places. Here is what I usually look like:

When on land though this is the more frequent look.
And finally, I’ll see your Fruita and Saguaro National Park, raise you Nepal from last months adventures:

ParticipantDrew. I commute on the WOD/MCT between Falls Church and Foggy Bottom, on a “campstove green” Surly Cross Check. I don’t ride a mountain bike very often anymore, but when I do it’s on a geared Salsa Dos Niner or a singlespeed Salsa mamacita.
With the exception of Dirt and Jabberwocky, I doubt I’ve met (m)any of you, except maybe in passing, on account of I’m antisocial.

ParticipantI’m Hans, the guy on the left from this few-year-old race-day photo:

I work for a small software engineering company out in Reston that has very cycling-friendly benefits — and even sponsors a cycling team (we have a 9-person team for a ~100-person company, so that seems like a good ratio; and there are other more casual cyclists here that aren’t on the team).I tend to do most of my riding during the week (commuting). As it’s getting warmer I’ll be doing more riding with my son; he loves his iGo:

And this is when I’m out doing a weekend road ride or a longer pre-work morning ride:

Um, no way. Me too.
I’m usually found commuting at least a couple days a week from West Falls Church to DC and back. Anywhere from very early in the morning to average. on a black ’86 Trek 400 Elance of the coveted 531. (love the way she handles). usually with the generic yellow jacket, and a yellow Ortlieb on the rear rack. and if you’re ever out to Manassas, you may catch the beginning or end miles of my commute or, as part of the bonus round, on a late ’90’s orange Novara with the kiddie trailer attached on the weekend.
Mad props to the first person to snap a picture and post it here.
