White’s Ferry crossing

Looks like Dread and I are going to try another century tomorrow morning. We want to tackle the White’s Ferry loop leaving from Rosslyn. Any suggestions on routes? I had planned on taking MacArthur to Falls, then Glen to Travilah and finally River road but Mark Blacknell informed me this morning that MacArthur is still really torn up due to milling. We also are not certain how best to get to the crossing once on River as we want to avoid gravel (we’ll be on road bikes). Dismal mentioned Partnership Rd. to Rt. 107…. thoughts?

Yup. I rode this stretch both to and from Leesburg just a few weeks ago. It’s fine.

Just to pile on and say 15 isn’t bad at all. I haven’t ridden it NB from Leesburg to White’s Ferry but have ridden the other direction (Ferry to Leesburg to return to Alexandria on the W&OD). It has the same treatment as the NB side (wide paved shoulder), and while not quiet, scenic, or calming, never felt dangerous to me.

Thank you all for the info. The plan is to take the WOD to Leesburg, then up to the ferry and come back down the C&O. I hope to do the ride in the next week or two.
