ParticipantWow. Tough questions.
I don’t know if that record store in Adam’s Morgan (on 18th almost at Columbia) is still there or not. (A couple doors up from Asylym and down from the McDs)
Plenty of good bars – depends on where your riding too/from. Lucky Bar used to be big with the courier crowd, no?
Plenty of H St. watering holes that I suspect are good for post-ride drinking over there. (I suspect most of the BA forum members will be more familiar with options across the river in Arlington/Shirlington/Alexandria)I still haven’t found an LBS that I like to spend much time in, I know a lot of folks are partial to Bicycle Space and Daily Rider, but I don’t see them as hang out spots.
I like shooting the shit with Tom at the Pro Shop but I usually get the stink eye from the guys up front (except for Cycleboredom, he’s cool.)

ParticipantBest bar in DC depends very much on the neighborhood.

ParticipantKemp Mill Records? Er, (mostly) closed.
Record Town. Oops, closed. Tower Records. Closed.
Are there still record stores these days? I mostly see CDs and those are available at general stores like Best Buy and drugstores. But those places probably don’t have the atmosphere that you’re looking for.

Here is a list of record stores: http://www.recordstoreday.com/Venues?state=DC
I can’t help with the best.
I was a Smash! girl back in the day but honestly have not been in the new location since their move.

ParticipantGet an app called The Vinyl District. You’ll find records stores wherever you are. I usually go to Record & Tape Exchange on Main & Pickett in Fairfax (next to Trader Joe’s).

According to Yelp, CD Warehouse closed and the space was converted to a frozen yogurt store.

ParticipantRecord store: Red Onion Records & Books
Bar: The Standard on 14th and S – awesome laid back beer garden.
LBS: While I’ve never bought anything there – I’m a big fan of Bicycle Space. They’ve helped my GF out with a lot of her biking needs. Friendly staff and while it’s sad their new space is much smaller, they have a pretty solid collection of stuff. I really, really like how they have a stand outside their shop free to use by anyone. I know my GF does yoga there and I assume they have more guy friendly activities as well.@ShawnoftheDread 51105 wrote:

Haven’t been in a long time – but another good one too.

ParticipantPartial to my neighborhood just across the river, but CD Cellar, a used CD shop which also carries some vinyl and Galaxy Hut are just one block from each other. And the latter is just downstairs from my apartment, is tiny and has 20 rotating beers on tap, plus some good bottles.
What are you looking for in a bar?
There’s a Revolution Cycles on the same block, but it’s not really a hang out place, though they do some shop rides on evening and weekends.
