ParticipantI have a feeling my steel box consists of a great deal of composite plastic.
Arlingtonrider, do we get extra credit bonus points for listing our astrological sign?

ParticipantLive in Reston, commute to Great Falls, Sagittarius, like romantic candlelit dinners, long walks on the beach and poking dead things with a stick.

ParticipantLive in Falls Church, work in Ballston, FCN = 9, and I ride so slow I’m afraid folks will poke me with a stick.

Participant😮 Hahaha! Like Dirt, I already love this community, so candlelight dinners and astrological signs won’t get you much further, but forum-wide happy hours, rides and other events might be a little more likely to be suggested for convenient places.
p.s. Quick reminder about Two Wheel Tuesday next week. “Chasing Legends” showing at Central Library followed by beers with Blacknell at the Carpool in Ballston.

ParticipantNorth Old Town (live) to near-Thomas Circle area (commute). I think I have OT in my profile. Will add commute to location.

ParticipantI live in the extremely fashionable Extremely West End of Alexandria (no, not Fairlington, I’m not that fashionable) and commute to the Extremely Southeast End of Penn Quarter. My sign is the Crab, my condiments are Old Bay and Melted Butter, my other sign is Caution: This Vehicle Makes Frequent Stops. I ride too slowly to poke aflapr with a stick.

ParticipantOkay, I updated my profile with some factoids about myself. I am a Leo. I like any dinner so long as I don’t have to make it.

ParticipantI live in Cherrydale and bike to Foggy Bottom (emphasis on the bottom — across from the Vietnam). I’m the pregnant chick on the purple ebike. But I see no one.

GuestLive a couple miles south of Old Town; Belle View area. Work in Indian Head, MD (probably not a popular choice for happy hours). Commute in steel box.

You should get a small boat and bike to/from it. You’d have the ultimate in pleasant, nature-filled commutes.

ParticipantPlease put info on your profiles rather than here. Commuting by kayak would be cool! I think I read a WaPo article a couple of years ago about someone who does that.

ParticipantJust remember, databases such as this are used for data mining. Only put information here (in FB, Twitter, G+) that you feel comfortable having data miners get. (I dont put any accurate personal information in social media sites)

Oh no, now the data miners are gonna know I like poking dead things with a stick.
On the plus side, I’m looking forward to getting some very interesting google ads.

Cabin John or Brookmont to DC via the Potomac in the am and then up the canal (when full) in the afternoon. It’s kind of a PITA honestly- on the river side you have to get out of your boat at Brookmont dam, on the canal side you have to get out at a bunch of locks. I don’t know anyone that does it every day (it’s pretty time consuming) but lot’s of folks that have done it a few times. There’s a rumor of a guy that used to live in Cabin John and work at the CIA- He’d cross the Potomac in a canoe. If you had a place to put the kayak, a commuter could probably do the same from Alexandria to National Harbor… maybe down the Anacostia?
