Meet “Sir Fluffy Unicorn“
Needs more options (secondary colour, and type/style of bike!). Mine will all end up being Sir/Commander/Baby/Professor/Duke/Doctor/etc Wicked Ninja.
I had enough trouble naming my kids, so… no names for the bikes.

GuestI share dasgeh’s complaint that Commander Slick Ninja, Professor Slick Ninja, and Sir Slick Ninja are somewhat lacking in name-diversity. On the other hand, I suppose they’re at least more original than their actual names “Red Bike”, “Blue Bike”, and “Black Bike”. (Continuing on a theme here, my gas-powered vehicles are named “Jetta” and “Truck”, and my Roomba, while definitively being a “he” not an “it”, is named “Roomba”. My late dog already had a name when I got her, but answered equally well to “Puppy Dog”. It’s probably just as well I don’t have kids, or they’d have wound up being named “Baby Boy” or some such.)

Mine would be the family Glitter Racer, which only serves to tell me that I need a Straggler, maybe.

Mine was easy, if not very clever.
Actually, I didn’t name my bike “hozn”; that’s silly. Garmin says my bikes are called “TheBlack2” (since this is the second version of that bike), “Workhorse” (the commuter), and “SS 29er” (my … SS 29er
).
I’m gonna diylettering something for my (youngest) son’s inherited strider. I think his older brother named it “bumblebee” for him.

ParticipantGreen trailer hauler/gravel grinder/weekend road warrior is called the Smith Army Bike because it does everything, like a Swiss Army Knife.
Silver fast hybrid is the Silver Bullet.
Black with white and sea blue accents, a heavy foul weather work horse is Orca.
Gold hardtail is Kona Gold or Bud for short.August 15, 2014 at 8:14 pm #1008155Greenbelt
ParticipantThe super bike
The commuter tank
The stupid bike
Paul’s bike(s)August 15, 2014 at 9:43 pm #1008156DSalovesh
ParticipantI named ’em for Strava purposes (otherwise they’re just the color):
Mo (greenie)
Clark (blackie)
Er… (whitey)
Sharky (bluey)

ParticipantSurprise, surprise, my mind wandered away from my @#$% work assignment and back to the world of bikes. I was just thinking about how some of you give names to your bikes. So I checked the Forum, and voila!…there’s a whole thread chock-full of interesting bike names…. Sir Fluffy Unicorn…. Orca….Colonel Whiz Kitten….Future Space Sex Machine.
This is from two years ago. Any updates? Name changes? New n+1 names?August 30, 2016 at 6:57 pm #1058209Tania
ParticipantMy FS mountain bike is called “the Barney bike” because it’s got a lime green bash and a purple chain ring.
My other bikes already have cool names.
The Warbird
The Rove
The DragonslayerCan’t really improve on any of them!

ParticipantI wish mine were better or more clever, but it’s still a fun thread so thanks for reviving. I keep track of their miles (non-Strava) so need names for them, even if not always fun personal names. (Now the different names for our dog…)
Oranje (Soma MB)
Oranje 2 (Masi CX)
Sibyl (1965 Schwinn Varsity)
FeltNash (Nashbar frame with Felt components from my broken F80)
611 (custom road)
FF (Fuji Feather)August 30, 2016 at 7:20 pm #1058211LeprosyStudyGroup
ParticipantI’ve found I need to ride a bike for a few months before its name becomes apparent.
My old roadbike was named Taintpuncher for good reason (RIP Taintpuncher!)
My current bike is named Leprosy because everything on it keeps falling apart
but I often call it Frankenbike these days because it became such a hodgepodge of different manufacturer’s parts (and it’s green)August 30, 2016 at 7:21 pm #1058212bobco85
ParticipantI’ve got 2 bikes that I use for very different roles:
- Red Velvet (red 2012 Fuji Newest 3.0 road bike) – named after my favorite type of cake; it feels so smooth when I get to ride this bike which tends to be on weekend adventures where I feel like I could bike anywhere
- City Bike (silver 2014 Zum City Bike hybrid/commuter bike) – the name’s not very original, but I think of this as my (sport) utility bike (hmm, S.U.B. could be a fun alternate nickname) with bike rack, trunk bag, rear baskets, and trailer attachment for getting and doing anything and everything around the city especially happy hours, coffee clubs, and family visits

ParticipantThe D-Bike: Murdered out Spec. Allez; looks like the kind of bike some racer d-bag would ride.
The Ferd: Baby Blue Surly Cross Check; like a ’79 Ford F150 Ranger, it keeps on truckin’.
The TeRD: It’s cheap, it makes awful noises no matter what I do, and the colorway reminds me of TRD trucks of the mid-1990’s.

ParticipantMy friend made fun of me a year or so ago for calling my bike pet names on a ride. “Come on sweetheart you got this” while going up a hill, “come on baby go faster!”, “it’s ok, you’re still pretty” after hitting some mud, etc. I figure if I call my bikes sweet loving names they’ll will go faster and break less often thanks to their improved self esteem…or something.
And my bikes are all girls–because they’re pretty and fast and bad ass.
