ParticipantThis is cool. I didn’t know about this ride. Thanks for posting, Cyndi. I have some knobby 700×41 that came stock on a hybrid I bought twenty of thirty years ago. I’ve been aging them in a climate controlled room. Cold and dry in the winter, hot and humid in the summer. Should be cured to perfection. I think I’ll throw them on the work horse. Or some equally well aged 26×1.95s on the rain bike if it’s going to be wet.
I like to mix dirt roads and trails into my pleasure rides but the rides convenient to me are 98% paved and I haven’t ridden a mostly off road course in decades. Excited to do this!

ParticipantJust as an aside, Dirt and I have been leading a casual ride at Lake Fairfax on Wednesday nights. If you want a feel for the trails, come on out and ride with us.

I recruited a few from the Tuesday night crew to join us. Maybe not this week, but next.

40mm. With them on, the bike just looks like it wants to go play on some trails!

That’s what I ride all the time on my cross bike. I can attest to its desire to go and play on the trails. 40mm tires are great, but they don’t protect you from everything. Take it light and easy over the really rocky sections… or walk them. Your really nice wheels will thank you for that.

ParticipantSwitched the chainring for Sunday’s ride, it’s silly for commuting.

ParticipantI signed up for this. Who else is going? I didn’t realize the beer and bbq was free for riders. Visions of me gnawing on a Powerbar and drinking tap water while everyone else was living large resulted in me paying for an additional entry to the post ride fete. I don’t know if it will be easy to get a refund, so if anyone wants to skip the ride and go straight to the after party, let me know. It’s on me!

Hey Rod, kayakcyndi and I are riding the 40 miler. I think jabberwocky is doing the 65 mile ride, i hope to see other forum members out there. Send me a PM if you need a ride from the finish to the start before the ride, I have room for one more bike on the roof rack.

ParticipantYep, I’m in too. Don’t need an extra food ticket though. Like dcv, I’ll be able to carry three bikes if you need a ride.

Yeah, txgoonie and I are doing the 65. I could probably shove a person and bike in the car as well if anyone else needs a ride.
