If I get 100+ miles in for the week I consider it a good week. You are super human!

I took my bike out run a few errands and it was barely sprinkling, so I wore my rain coat and jeans. Decided to ride from Capitol Hill to the mall to check out the Reason Rally (meh) and on my way home the skies opened up and I got absolutely drenched. I think my pants soaked up a couple gallons of rainwater…but it was relatively warm and I was close to home, so it was actually kinda fun.

Yeah, sometimes it’s better to just get out and get wet, than to sit inside and mope.

Of course there’s something to be said for a good mope too :)

About six of us did a pre-ride for one of the FABB rides we’ll be hosting this year. We were prepared for the rain and had a good time. My biggest issue is that my entire bike is plastered with flower blossoms at the moment. There are worse things in life, yes?

BTW did you know you can ride to the Udvar Hazy Center (Smithsonian Museum) in Chantilly? It was previously connected only by Route 28 and now they’ve opened a local road for access.

When is that official social ride to the Udvar-Hazy going to happen? Will you post a notice when you set a date?

Yes, I’ll post the dates and there will be a web signup. Thanks for your interest!

Registration for the FABB Ride to the museum is now open. The event site is here.

    Thanks,

Speaking of “Wet, so what?”… Yesterday was lovely. Definitely a good test of rain gear.

Dirt, you left out a few small details.

Yesterday in the rain you rode a century on a fixie.

Rain gear and embrocation made it nice and comfy. The cold set in bigtime when I got off the bike though. I couldn’t get out of wet clothes and into a hot shower quickly enough.

And I had my first Dirt sighting ever on Sunday. :)

Nice! Were you in the group that did the 2-day ride out west of town? Where did I see you? Sorry for not recognizing you. The ride had me quite toasted.

    Yeah, that’s a lot of miles in non-optimal weather…

I was right behind you on the Big Dummy at the stop light east…I think…of Vienna…before the 495 bridge. We saw you (again…relative to Purcelville) after we stopped at the Vienna Whole Foods coffee shop/bar and managed to create a moat of water around our entire table, which caused the clean up staff to circle us for half an hour or more until we left and they trailed us with push brooms and mops all the way out the door.

I suspected you might be Dirt when someone pointed out the Hello Kitty bike rims. Only later, when I thought it through, did I kick myself for not asking you if you were Dirt.

    :)

Any plans to do the total200 this year?

WABA Forums Folks: Any interest on getting together for a social ride to the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Museum? As of last fall they completed a connector road that allows you to bicycle to the museum. FABB is holding a social ride to the museum in less than two weeks.

Register for the ride on Eventbrite.

    Thanks!

    Very cool looking ride!

Cool that we ran into each other. That bike is definitely distinctive. :D

I am doing Total200 again this year. My goal is to ride it fixie this year. That’s what I’m working toward. If training goes well, it will happen. I will change to the double metric if I run into a wall with riding 200+ miles on the fixie.
