    The TTI study shows we’re number one in auto congestion per auto commuter. This does not measure congestion for all of us, nor the value of our transportation alternatives that allow us to avoid congestion. Many of us bikers, walkers, and transit riders avoid roadway congestion every day. According to the ACS 5-year, 20% of us don’t drive!

    On congestion per commuter, including walking/biking/transit, I bet DC and Chicago drop, and the LAs and Phoenixes of the world are near the top.

    Revised headline suggestion: “80% of DC Commuters Face Horrendous Congestion; 20% Do Not”

    The number of drivers in the Washington region who say they frequently feel uncontrollable anger toward another driver has doubled in the past five years, according to a Washington Post poll taken last year.

    Um . . . if you have “uncontrollable anger”, that means you are unable to control your anger. I thought that was sort of obvious from the word “uncontrollable”, but maybe not. So this means that the number of people who have acted on their anger by doing things like ramming other cars, or exiting their vehicle brandishing some sort of weapon, has doubled in the past five years. Kind of irresponsible of the Post to fail to ever mention these incidents at all.

    Just161 has a point – so many people travel by other means, and have a number of choices, that the DC area has a fairly good ranking in the big picture;

    For the City Commuting category;

    Washington, D.C. continues to lead the nation in this category, with the second-highest use of public transit at more than 37 percent. It also boasts the second highest walk-to-work rating (more than nine percent), and above-average bike-to-work ratings. More than seven percent of Washingtonians also carpool.
