You might ask David Confer of Fathom Bicycles on the Hill. I think he builds steel bikes.

Anybody know where I can get this piece of my Bakfiets kickstand welded back together? I’m in Arlington.

I took a non-cycling piece to be welded into Dixie Sheet Metal Works in Falls Church, just off the W&OD Trail. They did a nice job.

I’ve seen suggestions to use a bar end to replace that kind of thing, though you’d have to figure out some trick to attach it.

A friend who rides horses said that farriers (people that make horse shoes) might be able to do welding on things like that.

Does vicegrip still lurk on the forum? He can fix just about anything.

I can’t remember his name, but there is welder in Arlington who advertises regularly on Craigslist. He did some work on a steel frame for me at a reasonable price.

I keep seeing this guy’s name thrown around but googling hasn’t gotten me very far. As someone who lives on the Hill I’m very intrigued. Do you have a website or contact?

    This looks promising?

His name is Bruce. Did fine work on my steel frame as well.

Bruce welded a titanium SRAM Red front derailleur for me once, which is tricky due to both the metal and small size, and it held up. He is located just off the WOD at the Great Falls Street intersection, FYI. I found him on Craigslist.
