I’m planning on an early morning ride tomorrow, I have to be back by noon. But I wouldn’t mind meeting up with team folks somewhere for a piece of a group ride. I think I might do a big loop going up Beach, then Forest Glen, Sligo to Kemp Mill, Randolph, Fairland, then loop down through Beltsville, stop at Proteus to say hi, follow them down, then take the ART back to DC, then up the CCT and back home. That leaves plenty of meeting spots for the SS folks as well as CP folks. If we set up a facebook group, I can send out group message to coordinate.

I’m interested. Let me know what time you are thinking of kicking things off and where it might make sense to meet up.

This route is close to what I was planning on doing, it’s approximately a 50 mile loop.

I’d be willing to detour into Silver Spring or just meet somewhere along Sligo, if someone wanted to join me.

Too many miles. You should just stay home instead.

I’ll probably roll out around 7:15 am and be passing through SS around 8am-ish.

ParticipantI like it. what time were you thinking of starting? I could meet you at Beach and Pinehurst. I average about 15-16 mph over a 50 mile course. Is that too slow for you? Would be nice to meet up with the Proteus folks at their bakery rest stop. probably takes an hour for them to get there?

Sounds good. 15-16 mph is plenty fast. We could meet about 7:45 am or so. That’d give us plenty of time. By Beach and Pinehurst, I assume you mean that little parking lot along Beach just up from the DC line? Yes, could meet you there.

This sounds great but I have a refrigerator coming tomorrow morning so, sadly, I am going to miss this one. Next time. Have a great ride!

ParticipantHi guys,
We have a facebook page. other teams in the past have done this and I can see where it would be easier for quick communication than the forum or strava. if you received a friend request from me, pls answer it; if you haven’t gotten one, let me know. I won’t be offended if you drop me as a friend after Freezing Saddles or block my non-Freezing Saddles dribble (mostly political and humor and family stuff). Related to this request, who is Chibiaerin?
Mull over those team names and submit any last minute nominations. I will put a poll up later this weekend and we can square this away in the next day or so. We can also use it post pics of rides and plan other rides.
Also, Spence, Caroline, and Michael, your profiles are apparently not on the Freezing Saddles site. Probably good for all of us to check on our names.
Finally, bryan close and I are going to ride early tomorrow that will loop through College Park and then into the district and back up. If you are interested, pls come. Will be about 52 miles. I am meeting Bryan at Pinehurst and Beach at 7:45. Others welcome to join. Take advantage of the window of good weather!

Feel free to add rides and other events to the generic rides thread, too, if you don’t mind sharing with everyone. There’s also the FS calendar, which is at the bottom of the FS home page. If you would like editing privileges to put things directly on the calendar, PM me with your Google email.

ParticipantWould love to hear about the Ride the Rockies in Colorado. Have really been wanting to go to Colorado either for riding or backpacking, though I do find the idea of riding at altitude daunting!
Hi I’m Calvin. Funny coincidence, but my friend Bryan introduced me to Freezing Saddles, and he just told me we are both on Team Six.
I like “bicicles” for the team name!
I’m a daily commuter and have been so, well, basically my entire life. Except the three years I lived in Manhattan that is. I do anything from 125 mi to 250 mi a week. I come down the CCT daily from Bethesda, but often add some laps at Hains Point or maybe Great Falls going home.
I’ve done RAGBRAI too, five times, and last summer did “Ride the Rockies” in Colorado. Their hills are bigger than those in Iowa!
Funny fact: Bryan and I met while drafting together on the Seagull Century, and realized in November we are both in barbershop quartets. In fact he sings with my old singing group. If there is a tenor and baritone on our team, we can sing something for you!
