I’ve been doing some Tabata-type workouts… swimming in the pool, but not on a bike. I plan to start adding some of those once I get out of my bike-laziness phase.

This sounds like fun, but yea, what type of bike would you use????
Pack riding around a bunch of tight turns with cement walls as your cushion sounds like I may need to bring the large bottle neosporin and leave the carbon at home.

Do those races count in any standings? I don’t know.

No, I don’t believe they do either. But the Weds night training races in Greenbelt do. Yes, I know that there will be people there, but road racing is different to me from MTB or even CX. It is fast and more dangerous and as a cat-5 racer I have little incentive to do training races that don’t count. All cat 5 races are training races.

… But that really is irrelevant. I hope it is awesome.

Yeah, I would ride sticky tires. My 28mm Duranos would probably be great in a parking garage race. Definitely nothing with knobs.

How much does bike parking usually cost?

Declared by acclamation – there will be a forum happy hour at the Washington Wine Academy wine and beer garten to watch the first Wednesday night race in March.

Two beers an hour. Paid directly to me or to people I designate. This is actually part of Arlington County Code. Or not.

Don’t forget that the Wednesday Night Spins starts this evening. The garage is not really warm, but it is dry. Hope to see you there.

I might stop by to watch. But I’m nowhere near ready to sign up for any type of bike racing right now. So I will spectate only.

(The official email announcement also said something about heckling the racers. I think I could find the energy to do that too. But it will be a good sort of heckling.)

I plan on being there, not to race but to spectate…and heckle…and drink.

    Round two tonight.
These are a blast, an absolute-white-knuckle-‘Oh-$h1t-i’m-Gonna-Die’ blast, but a blast nonetheless. I did horrible the first race, for fear of dying, and total lack of skill for this many turns, but still had a great time. It was a cross between Tron, with people exploding into walls, and Apocalypse Now, which after 10 laps of red tape everywhere and those damn florescent light, i started to hallucinate big time waiting for The Flight of the Valkyries to start blaring over the intercom.
Become one of the Morlocks and check it out, for the Crosshairs guys have set up very organized event that is just as fun to watch,,,and did i mention there is beer.
