I’m sitting here still thirsty three hours after doing something stupid and it reminds me that most people are smarter than I am.

But for those 1%-ers, I thought I’d mention that as the weather heats up, water matters.

Personally, I need two water cages on my bikes.

    I have a small camelbak

But having it and using it are two separate issues. Someday I’ll get over the idea of sucking out of a small rubber tube. Someday.

I’ll admit to filling my bottles with water and Gatorade and a diluted mix of water and Gatorade. We won’t discuss past poor choices.

    Find whatever works for you.

And FWIW, I always make one bottle full of whatever mix (usually HEED)

Holy disgusting HEED, Batman. I learned mid triathlon, when the pit stop was out of water and only had HEED, that HEED is GROSS and should be avoided at all costs.

Now I know what to use for your prize at the next FreshBikes ride.

I <3 HEED. The “subtle melon” has subtly captured my heart.

Long ride = one bottle of HEED and one of water. I drink a ton on the bike so I usually run out before my riding companions. A great excuse to stop and take a breather though. :)

Skratch Labs drink mix is the best I’ve used. Tastes great too. I can drink it all day and not have it bother my stomach. Never had a drink or drink mix do that before. I like that their natural flavors are actual fruit…. not stuff that I wonder if it really is natural or not.

Remember, Bike to Work Day pitstops can be a great place to replenish your supply of water bottles, just don’t get too greedy. It’s just too bad that some of the ones they give away have the hard plastic tops, I don’t like those.

+1 on the scratch labs drink mixes. Unfortunately, I’ve run out of samples. Supposedly our shop is going to try to stock these in the future.
