Blogging is difficult to sustain. It is a significant time commitment and it has minimal return. It also directly competes with other personal time (such as family, dogs, and well cycling).
One of the successful models I have seen is to design a blog space with multiple contributors. Some of these blog spaces have a select group of contributors (like a group of academics who work in a common field) or the model might be open to contribution, with editors that approve relevant and quality posts (I contribute to a blog called CircleID that follows this model – focuses on Internet policy and news stuff).
There are a lot of bike blogs in WDC. The content is there. I am not sure someone needs to recreate the wheel as much as someone could aggregate what already exists.
My bike blog is Windy Run. I have a link roll on it where I show headlines from other local bike blogs.
