    Will this be a beginner bike? If so, I have a 16″ Novarra that may be going up for sale shortly…

    They might want to look for a small(ish) 20″ too — or just double check inseam and think about how long they want the bike to last. My son is probably a little taller than average (80th % maybe?), but he got a 20″ on his 5th birthday that fits him great. Hopefully it’ll last for a couple years … we’ll see. Other advantage to a 20″ is that there’s no coaster brake mandated by CPSC.

    Of course if they can pick up a used 16″ at a great price that may be worth it even if the kid outgrows it within a year.
