WANTED: Tall Road Bike

This is a shot in the dark but I thought I would see what forum people might have in their garages.

I made a deal to the kid. If he forgoed getting his drivers license, I would buy him a bike. Well, he is taking me up on it. He has been riding an old steel motobecane road bike with drops and lever gear shifters. He is going on 6’3″

He is looking at the Specialized Allez, Specialized Tricross, or the Cannondale Synapse. I think a middle line road bike used for beating around – this is a kid near heading off to college and it could be a good college bike.

Anyone have any tall road bikes in this line in their closets gathering dust that they might want to clear out (so that they can buy their next bike). Also any thoughts or advice is most welcome. I have been trying to push Surly. He has been looking at a steel Fuji.

I’ve got a 1987 Novara Strada that I may be willing to part with if you’re still looking. It’s a beauty, complete with Shimano 105 set. It’s a little big in the torso on me, and I’m 6’2″, but all legs, so I guess it depends a little on how he’s built if it will fit.
