What do the rules say?
“You may use Capital Bikeshare or another form of public transit” from the poster. Not sure if there are official rules.
BTW, nice work equating bikeshare with transit. We need more of that. And if anyone has friends at FTA, we need to convince them to consider it transit without requiring Congress to act. Because Congress.

Those are the official rules. I’m not a lawyer, but a close reading of image suggests that you may use Capital Bikeshare. Or you may not.
I believe the spirit of the scavenger hunt laws requires you to have fun.

ParticipantHow would someone know about this if they are not here on the Forum? I could not find this on the Capital Bikeshare website nor on the BikeArlington website. Not on the Capital Bikeshare Facebook page either.

You’re curious about our marketing/outreach strategy?
Well, let me tell you! We’re not limiting the contest to just Arlington residents, but Alexandria, DC and MD residents aren’t our target. It went out to 10,000+ email addresses on Sunday evening in our email newsletter. (You do read our newsletters, don’t you Steven?) There has been some mention of it on Twitter, including from Arlington Transportation Partners. When the birthday “week” kicks off on Monday with a surprise (shhh!) pop-up CB event with free coffee and Acme breakfast pie, it’ll be more widely shared. But for now, feel free to share it with your friends, unless you want to get a head start on them!
Better get cracking (are we allowed to use that word?) and hope you’re one of the lucky 75!

ParticipantSince it’s BikeArlington, and the other four stations are in Arlington, I’ll ask: does the favorite station of your choice also need to be in Arlington?

A close reading of the Official Rules states, “Visit all five of the following Bikeshare stations in Arlington” which leads me to believe that yes it firmly, without a doubt, 100%, does indeed need to be in Arlington and you will likely be disqualified from the contest, and your biking privileges in Arlington will be revoked if you don’t follow the Office Rules to the letter.
But seriously–to everyone asking questions, we’re not sticklers for rules. We just want you to ride your bikes to all the corners of Arlington and enjoy it, have fun, and tell us all about it.
Y.S.G.F.A.B.R. and send us some pictures!

Maybe if their bags were well made again. Back when the bags were made in the USA they were great, but now they are so poorly made. I have three of their bags, one from the 80’s, one from the 90’s and one post-overseas around 2005. My newest one fell apart quickly and any other newer examples I have seen have not looked well constructed. My two old ones are ugly, but structurally sound, and still used.

ParticipantAt first I thought it sounded like a fun ride/contest, but the part about needing to unlock of CaBi at each one… meaning I’d have to spend the money for a one day ride, which I would do on my own bike…
I think I’ll pass and let an actual CaBi user enjoy the prize they deserve.

FINE. DON’T take the free stuff we’re trying to give out to encourage you to explore Arlington and Capital Bikeshare.

Sounds like someone needs to sign up for an annual membership! CB and a personal bike compliment each other very well for all those times when you don’t have your bike with you, it’s in the shop, or you’re making a one way bike trip like meeting friends out somewhere.
PM me for a coupon code that’ll give you $10 off if you’re interested…

I probably don’t use my membership enough to make it worth the cost, so I think of it as a donation to a non-profit whose goals/ideals I support and from which I get occasional benefits.
