I am marshalling the 15 miler and I plan on riding it fast and then hitting beer garden. If there is snow on the ground I might chicken out of even riding. I trust my riding but I do not trust cars.
As a reminder – the Wundergarten doesn’t open until 2PM…so any plans to “ride fast/short and then go to the beer garden” would need an alternative locale (Union Market, the bar upstairs at Whole Foods, the Biergarten Haus on H Street, etc.)

This. I’m just not sure about MD drivers in the snow.

Not sure why we get a really bad rep here on these forums, but how many MD drivers do we have documented running over themselves?

https://wtop.com/fairfax-county/2018/03/virginia-driver-faces-charges-after-running-over-himself/Because Maryland drivers are more of a menace to cyclists (rather than themselves), especially when they are driving in Virginia. Now, if this guy had jumped out of his car, gotten onto a bike, and THEN run himself over, you might have a case.

https://wtop.com/fairfax-county/2018/03/virginia-driver-faces-charges-after-running-over-himself/That story is terrible. It says it happened in Alexandria, when it actually happened in Fairfax County. It also calls Alexandria a “suburb”. It says the guy is from Alexandria (as does another article that makes it clear the incident was not the City) but no one seems able to say if he was from the City, or from the parts of Fairfax with their misleading postal addresses of “Alexandria”. And the story has gone international, dragging the name of the Port City into the mud. Feh.

I’m fundamentally opposed to using bar mitts in April, but I think I’ll have to put them back on my bike for tomorrows Vasa ride

ParticipantHave they posted the GPS routes for 30 and 60 yet? I signed up, but didn’t find links to any in the emails I was sent.

Yes – the links are in the PDF ride guide that they sent out.

And…for folks who haven’t seen (or don’t check their “Promotions” Gmail folder, which is where I found my e-mail) – WABA just sent out a helpful reminder with the PDF link again, a separate link for the routes for those who are PDF-averse, as well as notes making sure folks know that you are free to take a shorter ride/cut it off early/just skip the ride altogether and show up at 11:30 for soup and meatballs.

Yes, I would expect that to be the case (wheat is listed as one of the common allergens in the nutrition facts I found online for Ikea’s variety).
