Trail plowing was brought up this weekend at the County Board meeting!

According to Arlnow.com, Wednesday evening, the County Board committed to funding $300,000 for plowing snow from bike trails in the next fiscal year. The budget vote is Tuesday next week.

Breakdown:
One-time funding of $227k for two pieces of snow removal equipment ($127k) and construction of an equipment storage facility ($100k)
To man it, they’re shifting some existing parks staff who clear library parking lots to do the trail stuff instead and adding the library parking lots to an existing plowing contract at a cost of $65,000 per year.

65k + 127k + 100k ~= 300k

It’s more like a Snow Equipment Storage Center with light rail access, so totally worth the cost.

The FY-15 budget was passed, but the press release does not specifically mention the trail plowing.
