    Hi,

This is a fundraising letter asking you to donate to WABA as part of my WABA in the Wild ride on the C&O canal (Cumberland, MD to the District) in October. One hundred percent of what I raise goes to the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA).

If you don’t need to read any further – that’s great! Please go to http://www.waba.org/dana-bres and donate. Thanks.

WABA in the Wild differs from other rides because I am paying the costs of the ride separately – that means 100% of your donation directly supports WABA. The ride will be three days and 180 miles along the canal tow path, more unpaved riding than I’ve ever done.

We rely on WABA to expand and improve the bicycle infrastructure that benefits us all. More bike lanes and trails helps reduce the number of cars on the road, so WABA helps motorists as well. While WABA gets funding from local governments for many activities like training and trail rangers, those funds can’t be used for advocacy. That makes unrestricted donations, like yours, that much more valuable.

Every rider has a goal of $1,000 but I think we can do better. To that end, I will match (dollar for dollar) donations I receive up to the $1,000 level! That doubles the impact of your donations for WABA. Your tax-deductible donations can be made http://www.waba.org/dana-bres. WABA is a 501(c)(3) organization.

We all support cycling as we can. WABA has become the region’s premier advocacy organization for cycling and this is an opportunity to help sustain those efforts.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    I appreciate your support.

    Dana

YES! We can make this happen. Rum cake isnt the most transportable by bike

I feel your pain. Whenever I’m deciding which baked goods to bring to a work function, my first question is “Will they be delicious?” My second question is “Will they survive the bike ride to the office?”

I chose the weapon; under the rules for dueling, I think that means you get to choose the time and place. :D Maybe CCCC on August 22? Just let me know, and I’ll be there with rum balls in tow!

Hmm. I do have a recipe for rum-coffee ball cookies. Emm, want to have a rum ball vs. rum cake bakeoff, with proceeds going to dbb’s WABA in the Wild ride?

like, dislike, elite — we’re missing a choice – we need a yum button

I’m game to bring beer to the Crystal City Coffee Club if someone will drink it.

    See you tomorrow morning.

Oats, chocolate, and coffee. Wow. ALL the favored additions to stout, all at once!

I make a pretty awesome peach bourbon pie… But, it would have to be presented at a Happy Hour since all of you coffee people hang out too late in the morning for me! 😎

That would suggest you just need to focus on your priorities :)

Might I suggest bikes, coffee with friends, and then work?

Seriously, while any support of my fundraising would be appreciated; your support of WABA would be awesome. Everybody who cycles owes WABA big time for all they do.

This works! I’ll be there sometime between 7:15 and 7:30am next week with rum cake :)

I will be happy to transport this peach burbon pie to CCCC and provide a full report on what people think of it. :P

I suspect I’d never get a chance to report on that pie.

And it is really, really good. Nicely balanced. None of that wild and crazy stuff like Dogfish Head does.

Just a friendly reminder that there will be a rum ball cookies vs rum cake bake off at tomorrow’s Crystal City Coffee Club that you’re welcome to partake in as long as you donate to dbb’s fundraiser! :)
